BioShock Vita’s Status Remains Unknown

BioShock Vitas Status Remains UnknownSome gamers might have heard by now that BioShock developer, Irrational Games, will be shutting down. While this is bad news for the staff of Irrational Games, the good news is that the BioShock franchise will continue to live on via 2K Games, a subsidiary of Take-Two who is also the parent company of Irrational Games. Now we’re not sure when the next BioShock title will be made by 2K Games, but at the same time there are some gamers who are wondering about the fate of the BioShock Vita game which was announced about three years ago.

The bad news is that while the Vita game has not been cancelled, it does not appear to be being worked on either. This is according to a 2K Games rep who spoke to the folks at CVG and stated that the company had “no update” on the status of the game. BioShock for the Vita was originally shown off at 2011 but even after a couple of years, no deal was able to be struck up between Sony and Take-Two. However in 2011, Irrational Games did toy with the idea of outsourcing the development of BioShock Vita to another company, but only if the outsourced studio would be able to hit the level of quality that meets Irrational Games’ standards.

    New Tony Hawk Game Confirmed

New Tony Hawk Game ConfirmedIt has been a couple of years since we last heard about a Tony Hawk video game, which begs the question, are skateboarding games still considered to be “in”? Well as long as the skateboarding sport is still around, we guess skateboarding video games will continue to be popular. The last Tony Hawk title that was released was Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD which was released in 2012 and the good news for Tony Hawk fans is that it looks like there could be a new Tony Hawk skateboarding game in the works.

This is according to Tony Hawk himself who was quoted on his Demolition Radio show on SiriusXM as saying, “We’re working on a game, we are working on a game, it’s pretty cool,” while reminiscing about the Pro Skater series. No word on how the developer of the new game will be, but given that Robomondo was the last developer, perhaps it could still be them. Activision has also since confirmed their involvement with the game with a statement released to IGN, stating that, “Activision can confirm that they have something in the works with Tony Hawk, more info is coming soon.” It is unclear when or for which platforms the game will launch on, but for skateboarding fans out there, this is definitely something to keep an eye on.

    Huawei MediaPad X1 Photos Leaked

Huawei MediaPad X1 Photos LeakedWe expect that MWC 2014 will contain a wealth of announcement regarding handsets from manufacturers all around the world, and Huawei is one of them. Based on what we know so far, the company is set to announce a smartwatch, the Ascend P7, any maybe the Huawei Ascend D3. That being said, it seems that we can expect Huawei to unveil the MediaPad X1 whose photo we saw not too long ago pictured alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 where its whopping 7-inch display completely dwarfed the phablet.

Now thanks to additional leaked photos, we are looking at newer pictures of the upcoming phablet where we can get a glimpse at its software, along with an accessory which sort of acts like Samsung’s S View case which will display a special screen when closed. In this case it will display the time. In terms of specs, a recent trip to China’s FAA has revealed that it will pack a quad-core HiSilicon 910 CPU clocked at 1.6GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, a 7-inch 1920×1200 display, and a whopping 6,000mAh battery. It will also come with LTE and telephone capabilities, for those who have no qualms about putting a 7-inch device next to their ear. Either way we hope to learn more at MWC 2014, so check back with us then for the details.

Yandex Wants To Encourage More Forked Versions Of Android

Yandex Wants To Encourage More Forked Versions Of AndroidWhile Android might be available for OEMs to install on their phones, if they are hoping to be able to use Google’s services, like access to the Play Store, for example, they will require permission from Google. Unless of course you were to run a forked version of Android which is what companies like Amazon have done, and also appears to be what Nokia will be doing. That being said, it looks like there is one company is that is hoping to encourage Android OEMs to take the forked route, and it is none other than Russian giant, Yandex.

According to TechCrunch, they have reported that the company has recently released a Yandex.Kit which will basically help OEMs create a forked version of Android. They are also appearing to offer up their own services in place of Google. We’re not sure if there is an advantage here to using Yandex’s services over Google’s more established ones, but we’re guessing countries, such as China, where Google isn’t allowed, Yandex could be an alternative to China’s own range of services from Baidu and so on. Some of the services and features Yandex plans on offering includes search, mail, an app store of their own which boasts over 100,000 apps, a 3D home screen launcher, and more. Some of Yandex’s partners include Huawei and Explay who will be demonstrating Yandex-based devices at MWC 2014.

Konami Starts Selling MGS5 Themed Merchandise

Konami Starts Selling MGS5 Themed MerchandiseFans of games, television series, movies, and comics are more often than not willing to sport merchandise that shows off their love for the game, movie, and etc. Well if you’re a huge Metal Gear Solid fan and you would love to show off your loyalty to the franchise, you might be pleased to learn that Hideo Kojima has announced there will be Metal Gear Solid clothing available for purchase via Konami’s Japanese store. As it stands the company is offering jackets and shoes, with the jackets being of the track jacket variety. It will come in two design options, one of camo and the other in dark gray, both emblazoned with the Diamond Dogs insignia. The jackets are expected to retail for $147.

Next up are the shoes which is a collaboration with Puma. One of them sports a camo these with a hidden dog design within the design of the shoe itself, so you might have to keep a close eye on it. The other design appears to be a more somber design with a dark colored finish (we can’t tell if it’s black or a dark brown). According to Kojima, “I’ve been true loyal & wearing PUMA shoes for last 10 years. Assure u the quality of our collab w PUMA.” Unfortunately the shoes are a tad more expensive at $195 for a pair, but they do look pretty spiffy and if you’re a fan of the Metal Gear Solid franchise and the Puma brand, perhaps you might want to consider them. The shoes and jackets will be available come March 20th and you can check them out at Konami’s online store.

BlackBerry Windermere Concept Looks Pretty Sleek

BlackBerry Windermere Concept Looks Pretty SleekSo the other day we caught a glimpse at an alleged BlackBerry prototype called the Windermere. The device when it was first leaked was thought to be an older BlackBerry prototype, perhaps one that might have been cancelled, but it turns out that wasn’t the case, or so the rumors clam. In any case the leaked photos were somewhat blurry and hard to see, but thanks to a recent concept rendering made by a fan, we now have a better and clearer idea of what the Windermere could look like if it were to be released as a final product.

However it should be noted that this isn’t strictly the Windermere based on the leaked images. Most notably is due to the fact that its screen seems more conventional, versus the prototype we saw which had a 1:1 touchscreen, which in all honesty was an odd choice to begin with. However the concept does keep its three row keyboard design, and with the elongated screen, it certainly looks pretty good. For those who didn’t follow the rumors, the reason behind BlackBerry’s choice of a three row keyboard design is because apparently BlackBerry will be incorporating gestures into the keyboard itself, allowing users to use gestures to pull up additional keys, such as symbols, as well as swiping. What do you guys think? Yay or nay?
