Posted in: Today's ChiliPrior to MWC 2014, LG unveiled a trio of devices as part of their L-series lineup, and one of them was the LG L90. The handset was mid-ranged at best, but unfortunately at the time of announcement, LG did not share any plans regarding availability or pricing.

Back in 2013, Sony unveiled the Xperia Z, which at that time was the company’s flagship handset. While the Xperia Z packed some pretty impressive hardware, there were a couple of features that made it stand out from the rest of the competition – waterproof and dustproof.
While we doubt these are features that many customers base their decisions on, it is a pretty handy feature especially in those “oops” moments when you drop the phone in the pool, the toilet, or where it might get wet in the rain. This is a feature Sony carried on to its other products, including the Xperia Z2.
However it turns out that waterproof and dustproof are features Samsung decided to introduce to its latest Galaxy S5 as well. It is safe to say that Android is probably the most popular smartphone operating system at the moment. That also makes them a very nice and juicy target for hackers who have in the past released malware that specifically targets the operating system. That being said, such malware reports are becoming less frequent these days.
That being said, does the fact that Google’s choice to make Android open source a reason why there are more malware attacks? After all if hackers are allowed to inspect the code, they will be able to find loopholes and exploits that they can use to hack their way in. BBM for desktop? Now where have we heard that before? Our readers might recall that it was only a few days ago that BlackBerry’s CEO, John Chen, expressed the company’s interest in potentially moving BBM beyond handsets. This has led to speculation that BlackBerry could be thinking about moving BBM onto desktops.
This is actually not the first time the concept has been proposed, but unfortunately BBM chief, John Sims, poured cold water onto the idea when he revealed that moving BBM onto the desktop is something that the company is not focusing on at the moment. (more…)
