Microsoft Launches Office Online

Microsoft Launches Office OnlineWhen Microsoft officially announced that they would rebrand SkyDrive to OneDrive, there was also talks that Microsoft could be rebranding other products as well, such as Office Web Apps to Office Online, which admittedly rolls off the tongue a little better. Just last week we had heard how the rebranding could be taking place soon and sure enough it has. Microsoft has since officially relaunched Office Web Apps to Office Online, and with it the productivity suites have also been rebranded, as per earlier rumors. What this means is that apps will now be known as Word Online, Excel Online, PowerPoint Online, and OneNote Online.

One of the criticisms of Office Web Apps is that it wasn’t always the easiest to look for when you wanted to use the app. Its placement was not as obvious and that is something Microsoft is hoping to change with Office Online. Microsoft has also promised that sharing and collaborating with other users with Office Online will be a lot easier than before. For those looking to start things off, Microsoft has also included hundreds of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint templates that will allow users to get off to a running start. Essentially this is Microsoft’s answer to Google Drive which allows for the creation of word documents and spreadsheets that can be edited simultaneously, but if you’re a fan of Microsoft’s products, perhaps you should give Office Online a go.

    Huawei’s Upcoming Smartwatch Gets Pictured

Huaweis Upcoming Smartwatch Gets PicturedWearable technology seems to be what’s trending these days, and we can expect many such devices to be announced or rumored about this year. That being said, Huawei is said to unveil their own smartwatch at MWC 2014, and now thanks to a recent photo posted by a Huawei official on their Weibo account, we might have our first glimpse at said device. Accompanying the post is a description which reads, “My new toy, do you like this color?” As you can see in the image above, Huawei has decided to go with a more outlandish design for its smartwatch, versus the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Gear and the Pebble smartwatch, both of which feature slightly more “serious” designs.

In fact based on what we can see, it would seem that Huawei would be trying to appeal to a more fashion-conscious type of customer thanks to its funky and somewhat sporty look, not to mention the baby blue wristband does help the device stand out from the crowd. This is not to say that the design is ugly, it’s just a bit too out there and might not appeal to the more hardcore techie who might prefer something a little more somber, or to the tech-savvy business user who would prefer something less playful. Chances are we will be seeing more color options at MWC 2014, so check back with us next week for the details! In the meantime are you guys digging Huawei’s smartwatch?

Future Final Fantasy Titles Could Arrive For PC

Future Final Fantasy Titles Could Arrive For PCWe’re sure there are Final Fantasy gamers out there who own consoles and have played many of the Final Fantasy titles in the past. Unfortunately for the most part, Final Fantasy titles have typically been limited to console releases, like the Final Fantasy 13 trilogy of games, along with the upcoming Final Fantasy 15 which will see a release on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 only. Well the good news is that perhaps future Final Fantasy titles, after FF15 presumably, will make its way onto the PC as well. This is according to Square Enix who has expressed their interest in bringing future Final Fantasy titles onto the PC.

If they have the interest, why haven’t they done it? Save for Final Fantasy 11 and Final Fantasy 14, the game’s producer Yoshinori Kitase explained it by saying, “As far as the technology is concerned, it would have been possible for us to make a PC version, but we decided against it for two reasons: we looked at the market situation and we didn’t think it would be a good idea, and also it would have involved lots of complex issues like security. So we decided not to do it this time around.” Kitase also adds, “So in terms of our hope of being able to deliver our games to every single country in the world and to as many gamers as possible, yes, we would definitely be interested in pursuing that route in the future.”

    Halo 3 Done – Coming September 25th

This article was written on August 30, 2007 by CyberNet.

Halo3Halo 3 is done! The developers of the game, Bungie, announced yesterday that “Halo’s Gone Gold.” That means that the final version of Halo 3 is done, and now it’s being “whisked away to top-secret manufacturing locations to be turned into retail version of the game – and eventually packaged and sent to stores in various cases, tins and cat-helmets.  We can’t wait to share it with you guys on September 25th and 26th.”

They go on to thank all the people involved in creating what is expected to be one of the most successful video games, ever. They closed up the announcement with “We finished our fight. Your fight begins in 27 days. Are you ready?” And with that question, I know that many of you are more than ready. With over 1 million pre-orders, Halo 3 has already broken preorder records in the video game industry! People are expecting a lot from Halo 3, and I doubt it’ll Disappoint.

In other Halo 3 news, apparently South Koreans aren’t really familiar with Halo. So in an effort to familiarize Koreans with the game, Microsoft decided to do some promoting. According to Kotaku, “Microsoft Korea thought it would be HILARIOUS to have a guy in a Master Chief costume to spook innocent bystanders and film it Candid Camera-style and use cheesy circus music.”

More Nokia Normandy/Nokia X Photos Leaked

More Nokia Normandy/Nokia X Photos LeakedCome MWC 2014, chances of Nokia unveiling an Android smartphone is pretty high, at least that’s the feeling we’re getting thanks to the barrage of rumors, leaked photos, and a recent webcast invite which seems to suggest that the Nokia Normandy/Nokia X is indeed real and something we can look forward to. Well now thanks to Chinese website, Coolxap, they have managed to get their hands on a handful of photos which are allegedly that of the Nokia Normandy. These photos, unlike previous press renderings, show a more “real life” version of the phone along with what appears to be a forked version of Android running in the background.

The rumors are claiming that Nokia will be using a forked version of Android for the handset, similar to what Amazon did with the Kindle series of Android tablets. This means that Nokia’s take on Android will be vastly different to what we’ve become accustomed to in the past, and in a way based on what we can see, is reminiscent of the tile layout used by the Windows Phone platform. Apart from that, the handset itself is pretty nondescript and there’s really nothing to shout about in terms of its design. So far according to the rumors, it has been suggested that the Nokia Normandy/Nokia X will pack a 4-inch 800×480 display, a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor with 512MB of RAM, a 5MP camera, and possibly a 1,500mAh battery. In any case be sure to check back with us during MWC for more coverage.

Sprint’s Galaxy Note 3 Receives Android 4.4 KitKat Update

Sprints Galaxy Note 3 Receives Android 4.4 KitKat UpdateIf there’s one drawback to carriers in the US is that they typically require manufacturers to pass them handset updates to be certified and approved first before being released. This is an additional step in the updating process which explains why those living in the US sometimes receive their updates later than everyone else. Then again, better late than never, right? The good news is that if you’re a Sprint subscriber with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, you might be pleased to learn that Sprint has announced that the Android 4.4 KitKat update will be making its way onto your devices.

The update weighs in at around 503.6MB so you might want to download this update over a WiFi network rather than use your data plan, lest you burn through your data cap too quickly. The update will introduce some changes, some of which are expected from Android 4.4 KitKit, along with music album art of the lock screen, launcher selection in the settings menu, camera shortcut on lock screen, improvements made to the TouchWiz UI, and prevention pop-up removal. We expect that there might be some updates directly related to Sprint, but for the most part this is about bringing Android 4.4 KitKat to the phone. If you haven’t received your update yet, don’t worry as we’re sure it’s busy making its rounds, but if you have, let us know in the comments below on how the update is treating you!
