Edward Snowden, the famed NSA whistle-blower, already has been cast as the hero in a video game that has him collecting sensitive information while avoiding government capture. Now, he can be the hero of more tactile game play with his arrival in the form of an action figure from ThatsMyFace.com.

The action figure goes for $99 and comes with a 12-inch articulated body (movable joints) in your choice of clothes. Options include a brown military outfit, a casual set with jeans and a t-shirt, a business suit, or an Indiana Jones get-up complete with a whip and messenger bag. For obvious reasons, you should order the Indiana Jones version if you’re going to buy this thing.

If you have a 12-inch, headless action figure laying around, then you can order just the interchangeable head for $60. The made-to-order head is crafted from resin.

Omnidrive Opening To The Public Tomorrow – 1GB Storage

This article was written on November 08, 2006 by CyberNet.

Omnidrive Online file storage is becoming increasingly popular and a highly talked about service called Omnidrive will be bringing down the barriers so that anyone can register for a free account. This will happen tomorrow at 12:01AM PST which is about 14-hours from now.

Like other online file storage solutions Omnidrive has a software application that will let you easily share a folder with another user and even access your files right from your “My Computer.” This takes the hassle out of pulling up the web page every time that you want to transfer a file.

The well developed program has earned a lot of praise around the web over the last few months but the 1GB of free storage is a bit meek. Even AOL is offering a free 5GB of storage with their recently acquired service called Xdrive. If  you need more space on Omnidrive it will cost you $40 a year to receive 10GB and their FAQ’s page says that you can get up to 500GB “at a very reasonable price.”

I’ll probably try out the Omnidrive when it does launch so that I can accurately compare different services to see what is best for me, but I wish Google would come out with some kind of service to blow everyone else out of the water. We all keep saying to ourselves that it will be soon but then it never comes. 🙁

Brookstone Waterproof Speaker – you can’t stop the beat

    Brookstone Waterproof Speaker

While we love listening to music, our devices can’t follow us everywhere we go. Most pairings of water and gadgets generally aren’t a good idea, but that doesn’t stop us from trying. We’ll turn our tunes on full blast while taking a shower, or sit our phones on the edge of the tub, leading to possible disaster. If you’d prefer not to need a replacement for your gizmos, then you might want a waterproof speaker.

The Brookstone Waterproof Speaker can provide you with booming beats in and out of the water. It is Bluetooth enabled, so it can be paired up with your smartphone or tablet. As stated previously, this is submersible, but it shouldn’t go any lower than 3 feet, as it too has limitations. This would be perfect for singing in the shower, ambient sound for a bath, or by the pool whenever mother nature decides that it’s time to warm up.

This is capable of a 33 foot range, and has a built-in rechargeable battery that can last for around 20 hours off of one charge. It has the ability to be hung up or stand on its own to fit whatever occasion you face. While there aren’t specifics about the quality of the speakers, it will certainly be better than your phone, especially when it’s on the other side of a shower curtain. This carries a price tag of $73, and of course will be a little extra thanks to shipping.

The World’s First Carbon Fiber 3D Printer Is Now Available To Order

    carbonfiber

Just in case you have $4,999 lying around and have a hankering to print in carbon fiber, the Mark One 3D printer is now available for pre-order. When first announced last month, the Mark One was going to be available to order in March, but today is your lucky day.

Named aptly for its creator, Gregory Mark, who also owns Aeromotions, this desktop printer debuted at SolidWorks World 2014 in San Diego. After seeing the expense and time currently associated with carbon fiber manufacturing, Mark started down a path that eventually ended up at the Mark One.

“We took the idea of 3D printing, that process of laying things down strand by strand, and we used it as a manufacturing process to make composite parts,” he told Popular Mechanics. “We say it’s like regular 3D printers do the form — we do form and function.”

The printer can not only lay down carbon fiber, but also fiberglass, nylon and PLA. Of course, only one at a time. The printer employees some pretty nifty advancements, too, including a self-leveling printing bed that clicks into position before each print.

For a few dollars more, the company also offers a Mark One Developer Kit Pre-order that puts your order at the front of the line and includes a few extras, including more Kevlar and two extra beds.
