Earlier today, a Galaxy Note 3 as reached a download speed of 300Mbps, and with its Snapdragon 805 processor, it became the fastest and most powerful device of its kind. The bad news is that you won’t be able to purchase it: it’s a unique prototype built for the sole purpose to demonstrate LTE Category 6 (Cat6) which is even faster that the best wireless networks deployed in the world: South Korea’s Cat4 LTE networks.

This Galaxy Note is has a Gobi 9×35 modem (a cousin of the Gobi 9×30) that is twice as fast as anything found commercially, and it features Snapdragon 805, which brings a boost of 30%-40% over the original Snapdragon 800 of the Note 3. When it comes to us humans, there is always this particular obsession with having the biggest, best, and even fastest device or ride in town. It does seem as though the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s long standing record (relatively speaking, of course) when it comes to the highest land speed achieved by a production car has been broken by the Hennessey Venom. Thanks to test pilot Brian Smith who spent Valentine’s Day at the Kennedy Space Center to help increase the amount of affection shown by motorheads to the Hennessey Venom, he managed to push the ride to touch 270.49 m.p.h., thanks to a whopping 1,244 horsepower engine underneath the hood. This broke the highest speed ever reached by a production car by a wee bit, where the previous record stood at the 269.86 mark.

There are a lot of online video streaming sites but no one comes close to YouTube, which Google picked up for almost a billion dollars back in 2006. Since then, YouTube has grown to be the behemoth it is today, and even though Dailymotion and Vimeo are some of the better known competitors, YouTube is in a league of its own. Last year there were rumors floating about that Yahoo was interested in taking up a stake in Dailymotion, but apparently talks fell through. Last week it was rumored that Microsoft is mulling over the exact same possibility, and now French telco Orange’s CEO Stephane Richard has told The Wall Street Journal that talks with Microsoft are indeed a go, though not necessarily for a stake alone. Orange has a majority stake in the video streaming website.
