When Square Enix first announced that they’d be attempting a Final Fantasy MMORPG, safe to say many gamers were thrilled by that news. The game was launched to much anticipation and hype, only to fall flat on its face shortly after, leading to Square Enix to relaunch it several years later as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

So what was it that led to the original Final Fantasy XIV doing so badly? Well turns out Square Enix was magnanimous enough to share their thoughts on the failed game during a presentation at GDC, and according to the developers, overly detailed flowerpots was one the problems and was actually a symptom of a much larger problem. During GDC 2014, Sony and Oculus Rift both had virtual reality headset announcements. For Sony it was the announcement of Project Morpheus, a virtual reality headset designed for gaming, and for Oculus Rift, it was the announcement of the Development Kit 2 that would be going up for pre-order.

While Sony would seem like a strong competitor to Oculus Rift, the latter appears to be pretty pleased with Sony’s entrance, stating that with Sony entering into the fray, it lends the technology a bit more credibility. That being said, Digital Foundry has analyzed both Project Morpheus and Oculus Rift and has discovered that Sony’s headset is pretty close to the Oculus Rift’s headset in terms of specs. (more…)

According to the rumors, Nokia is working on a device known as the Lumia 630. In fact if the rumors are to be believed, there is a chance that Nokia could be announcing the Lumia 630 and the Lumia 930 at Microsoft’s BUILD conference which is taking place between the 2nd and 4th of April.

In any case not much is known about the Nokia Lumia 630 for now. Based on earlier leaked specifications, it has been suggested that the phone will pack a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 854×480 while powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, but now thanks to Sofica, a site for testing cameras, additional details have been revealed.
