Phosphor’s Touch Time is a smartwatch that doesn’t need a smartphone (hands-on)

When we talk about smartwatches, it’s normally devices that either work with your phone, or seek to replace them altogether. That’s not the approach taken by Phosphor, which recruited former Nike designer Stefan Andrén to craft a model that’s…

Oppo Jumping On The Mini Bandwagon With 5 Inch N1 [Rumor]

Its no longer surprising to see major manufacturers launch “mini” versions of their flagship smartphones. Samsung has been doing it for years, and even LG and HTC joined the party last year. Rumor has it that major Chinese manufacturer Oppo is looking to jump on this bandwagon as well. It launched the Oppo N1 last year, a flagship smartphone with a gigantic 5.9 inch display. Apparently now it is developing a 5-inch Oppo N1 mini.

Motorola Moto 360 Smartwatch Launched, powered by Android Wear
Another day and another Smartwatch… less than a month after MWC, where numerous wearable devices were launched, Motorola just unveiled its own Smartwatch, powered by Android Wear, also announced today.

We have received the information this morning and Motorola is sharing absolutely no information about the specifications, the exact availability date and the price. According to the dedicated website, the moto 360 will be available “this summer”.

From the official blog post and what we learned this morning about Android Wear, we know that users will be able to activate voice commands by saying “Ok Google”,  to ask for a game score, a flight schedule, to set up an appointment in the calendar, to write a text message or a note or to set the alarm clock.

MadeSolid Is Creating Next-Gen 3D Printing Materials

It seems like we can’t go a week these days without hearing about some new startup making a new 3D printer that wants to be better and cheaper than everything else.

NSA Can Record ‘100%’ Of A Foreign Country’s Phone Calls

NSA Can Record ‘100%’ Of A Foreign Country’s Phone CallsLet’s just put it this way, the National Security Agency, or NSA for short, has not exactly been the darling government organization to date. Unfortunately for us, the ‘Big Brother’ role that the NSA plays has raised the ire of many a citizen due to privacy issues. In fact, it has been reported that the NSA has already developed a surveillance system which is capable of recording “100 percent” of a foreign country’s telephone calls. This would prove to be a unique engineering triumph on the proverbial (and real) battlefield, as it allows the NSA to rewind and review conversations for up to a month since these conversations happened.

Zombie moss: Plant revives after 1,500 frozen years

This moss core was taken from near the surface.

    (Credit: Esme Roads)

It sounds like the next purposefully bad SyFy channel production: “Zombie moss! It came from beneath the Antarctic!” Researchers pulled up a sample of moss that had been sitting frozen for the last 1,500 years. Remarkably, it came back to life and started to grow again. This isn’t quite the same as an unfrozen caveman lawyer, but it’s pretty cool.

The moss sample came from a frozen core extracted from a moss bank in the Antarctic. It was sliced and placed in an incubator set to maintain normal light and temperature conditions geared for growth. A few weeks later, the sample began to grow. Carbon dating places the age of the moss at at least 1,530 years old.
