For those of you who appreciate Marvel’s attempt at bringing their various superhero franchises to the silver screen, we have seen our fair share of heart throbs appear from time to time. I am quite sure that the abs displayed by Chris Hemsworth in the first Thor movie and its subsequent sequel were the clincher in having Natalie Portman’s character fall in love with him. Mjolnir, the magical hammer forged of uru metal and answers only to the Thunder God’s beck and call, is a superior piece of equipment that has saved the day (and universe) many times over, so it is nice to see that a replica of it can be purchased for just $27.99.

Known as the Lightning Energy Hammer, this particular purchase is said to be able to detect iron-containing metal, in the same vein as that of a metal detector, where the hammer will then start to flash with corresponding light and sound effects. It will come with a display base as well as an energy-charging coin, where the entire shebang runs on three AA batteries. Quite the mantlepiece to own, eh?

Sonos’ wonderful wireless music system is getting a long-overdue app refresh, beginning with a new Android controller which should pop up in Google Play today. New features include a cleaner UI and universal search that lets you look through all your connected services for the tune you desire. The iOS, Mac, and Windows apps will also receive updates this year. It’s about time.

Our smartphone cameras are getting better with every version that is released. In fact it is safe to say that in some cases, our smartphone cameras have completely replaced the need for a compact digital camera, unless of course the compact camera had features and a level of quality that your smartphone cannot match.

However recently a bunch of scientists have managed to take the Nokia Lumia 1020 and used its camera to see objects that are hidden behind other things. For example objects that it could see through includes frosted glass, onion skin, and even chicken breast! (more…)

According to a report from last week, it was suggested that Sony could be unveiling their own virtual reality gaming solution this week during GDC. However it seems that they might not be alone in their virtual reality push, thanks to a recent report from The Wall Street Journal which has suggested that Microsoft could be interested in entering the virtual reality space as well.

According to the report, they cite people who are familiar with the project who claims that Microsoft is interested in pursuing virtual reality with hardware of their own as well. As it stands the project has been in the works for quite some time now in conjunction with another Microsoft project which has been given the codename “Fortaleza”. (more…)
