Google Gets Tough On Misleading Ads In Android Apps

Google Gets Tough On Misleading Ads In Android Apps

Pull up search results for an app in the Google Play Store and compare them with results from Apple’s App Store, the difference is evident. Apple strictly enforces a set of guidelines and doesn’t list an app on the App Store unless the criteria is met. Google is relatively open about listing apps on the Play Store, the consequence is obviously a huge number of low quality apps. Some apps even have malware, while others are riddled with deceptive or misleading ads. Google has now made amendments to its Google Play Developer Program Policy, clearly telling developers the kind of content their apps can display.

Etch A Sketch Laser Cutter: Burn A Wood

To celebrate the 10th birthday of Arduino, the folks at laser cutter shop Just Add Sharks decided to make a laser cutter run by an Arduino Pro Mini. To make things more fun, they made it so their laser cutter is controlled using two knobs just like an Etch A Sketch. They even made the controller look just like the toy.

etch a sketch laser cutter by just add sharks 620x451magnify

As with the Etch A Sketch, one of the knobs moves the laser vertically while the other makes it move horizontally. The laser cutter can not only etch, it also has a high powered mode that actually cuts through an object. That sounds awesome, but on the other hand you can’t erase or undo the process – no matter how hard you shake it.

Turn the knobs on your browser and head to Just Add Sharks’ blog for more on the hack.

Yahoo Poaching YouTube Stars, Working On Rival [Report]

Yahoo Poaching YouTube Stars, Working On Rival [Report]

It has long been rumored that Yahoo is interested in taking on YouTube. Apparently the company was looking into acquiring a major chunk of Dailymotion, but the deal is said to have been blocked by the French government. Yahoo might have given up on purchasing a majority stake, but its ambitions of taking on YouTube haven’t died down. Re/code reports that Yahoo is building its very own YouTube rival, and it may hurt Google’s video giant where it hurts in the process.
