We recently reported on a story about how a toddler saved his mom’s life by using her iPhone to FaceTime her friend who then called 911 who arrived to help her in time. That was a great example of technology used to help save a life, and now we are hearing of another story in which an iPhone was used to save a soldier’s life in Afghanistan.
According to the report, Staff Sgt. Shaun Frank was serving his second tour of duty when he and his team encountered a suicide bomber who then proceeded to blow himself up. The ensuing explosion sent shrapnel all over the place and in every direction. (more…)

With the iPhone 5c, it was Apple’s attempt at releasing a more affordable iPhone handset. It wasn’t exactly that much cheaper, meaning that customers who wanted an iPhone would much rather pay a little more to get the latest hardware, rather than slightly less for older technology, which might explain why the phone is a flop.
However it seems that despite the apparent failure of the iPhone 5c, Apple still has its eye on emerging markets such as India, and according to a recent report from The Economic Times, it has been suggested that Apple is looking to open up more retail stores in India to help push the iPhone to customers living in the region. Updating to the latest operating system is something most companies would encourage users to do. After all, OS updates typically bring about changes and improvements to the platform, while also addressing bugs and potential security loopholes.

Analysts are now saying that we should not expect to see a release of Windows Vista until Q2 of 2007! Microsoft has already pushed the release date back to January 2007 and another push-back will definitely start to anger some people.
If Microsoft wants to make their January 2007 date then they will need to push hard because they aren’t given much time between their beta versions and the time it gets sent to the manufacturer. One analyst has said:
Microsoft’s track record is clear; it consistently misses target dates for major operating system releases. We don’t expect broad availability of Windows Vista until at least 2Q07, which is nine to 12 months after Beta 2.
Although this is disappointing news I can see it being true. I guess we will have to wait a little longer before we can get a better idea of how long it will be before it is released.

The iPhone 4 was released back in 2010, which means that the handset is about four years old now. While the phone does support iOS 7, it’s probably in the best interest of iPhone 4 users to install the update simply because the phone is having a really hard time handling the software, or at least that’s what the reports claim.
In fact The New York Times claims that this is “planned obsolescence” which basically means that Apple is making life difficult for iPhone 4 users so that they’d ditch their phone for something newer, like the iPhone 5s perhaps. However the good news is that thanks to iOS 7.1, using the iPhone 4 is actually a lot better now. (more…)
