Quicksilver Source Code Available

The developer of the famed Quicksilver application (Macs only) has decided to open up the source code for the program. Is it a big deal? A lot of people are excited about the news, but Quicksilver was already designed to be an extremely extensible system via plugins. The real benefit of this being open source is that users may submit bug fixes themselves, thereby easing the burden placed on the Quicksilver developer.
There was also some thought as to whether this could be ported over to other platforms, such as Windows and Linux. I looked through the source code for Quicksilver, and I noticed that it uses Cocoa (Apple’s object-oriented programming language) quite often. To put it simply it would be a chore to port Quicksilver over to Windows or Linux, so I don’t expect to see that happening.
It looks like for now Windows users will still have to choose from one of the other several application launchers available, with the most popular probably being Launchy (review).

When you are at an ATM with a long queue behind you, it pays to be wary, especially if the city you’re in happens to be in a foreign land and is famous for pickpockets. There might be some PIN thieves behind you, who cannot wait to get a glimpse of your ATM’s PIN number before relieving you of your wallet and its contents afterwards through an accidental bump. Well, Google Glass, when working alongside the Ubic system, might prove to be a deterrent to PIN thieves. How does it work? When the user, who wears a pair of Google Glass, walks up toward an ATM, “identifies himself” to it. The Ubic software will see the ATM identify the user’s unique digital Google Glass signature, where it will then respond by showing off a customized QR code on its screen.

It seems that Delta Airlines has decided it is time for the old to go, and the new (relatively speaking, of course) to arrive. We are referring to the airline making the move to upgrade their bunch of Nokia Lumia 820 smartphones to that of the newer Nokia Lumia 1520 devices. At point of publishing, existing flight attendants make use of the Nokia Lumia 820 in order to take down in-flight food orders, although the bigger sized Lumia 1520 would come in handy as there is more visual area to look at, in addition to allowing the flight attendants to begin selling seat upgrades on the flight itself.
