Vista Wallpapers

NeoSmart just posted a wallpaper gallery that contains all of the Vista RTM backgrounds. There are both widescreen versions available and the normal “square” resolution that many people have. The widescreen ones are available up to a resolution of 1920 x 1200 which is what my 24″ monitor uses, so they will look good on most computers.

If you’re looking for some Firefox backgrounds don’t forget to checkout the wide selection that is available. There are so many good backgrounds available that I find myself switching all of the time. Of course I like change.

19th Century New York Was Covered in an Insane Web of Telephone Wires

Alexander Graham Bell may have invented the telephone in 1875, but the first phone installation didn’t come about for another three years. And that’s what makes these photos from 1887 so incredible; this tangled mass of telephone wires had already wound itself around New York City’s streets just seven years after that first installation.
