Smiley Face Screws and Screwdriver: Smile, You’re Screwed!

There are many different screw head types. Like those screw heads on game consoles that are designed to keep you out. Those should have grump faces to represent them, whereas Yuma Kano’s design is all about fun.
    smiley screwsmagnify

Screw is a collaborative project between him and Komura Seisakusho, a screw factory in Japan. The idea is that his screws are “a product that can bring joy.” If you were taking something apart and didn’t expect to see a screw like this, I imagine it would make you smile.

Amazon Set Top Box May Be Unveiled Next Week

There have been countless rumors in the past about Amazon’s ambitions of entering into the living room. Apparently the company has been working on a set-top box for quite some time, one that would rival the likes of Apple TV, Roku and Google’s popular Chromecast dongle. While Amazon has still not confirmed its set-top box plans, today it has sent out invites to the media for an event on April 2nd where it will talk about an “update on our video business.”

Rumors suggest that Amazon’s set-top box will run a highly forked version of Android, much like its Kindle Fire tablets. This means that the device won’t be able to access Google Play Store but would rather rely on Amazon’s own appstore. Moreover, the company’s Instant Video service, may also be a pivotal part of the new device since it offers free streaming of TV shows and movies to Amazon Prime members.

Its also possible that the company’s set-top box may be able to play games as well. A controller was recently leaked, which would be presumably be used to play games on the device. The event will take place in New York on Wednesday, April 2nd at 11:00 a.m. ET. We’ll know for sure next week what Amazon’s living room ambitions are.
