Missing Boy Found In Coin Operated Claw Machine

Missing Boy Found In Coin Operated Claw MachineA missing child is always a scary thought to have for any parent, and the long arm of the law, too, would pull all the stops just to make sure that both child and parent(s) are reunited at the end of a long search. In Nebraska, a mother called the police after she could not locate her son from her Lincoln home. According to the 24-year old mother, she figured out that her 3-year old son must have gone out of the unlocked apartment unnoticed, while she was in the bathroom. Guess where was the little toddler found in the end? In a coin operated claw machine, that’s where!

Yup, you read that right – the plucky 3-year old, who probably did not know any better, ended up in a coin operated claw machine which was located at Madsen’s Bowling & Billiards. Apparently, employees there called the police after they were alerted by a customer that a young child was stuck inside the machine itself.

The police naturally followed up on that lead, no matter how improbable and zany it might have sounded over the phone, only to find the little one within, where he was oblivious to the world around as he was too happy to play with the stuffed animals within the claw machine. Madsen’s made a call to the company behind this claw machine to free him before he could get hurt. The police would not charge the mother in any way, because she acted as quickly as possible the moment she realized her little one went missing. It does make you wonder, how did he end up in the claw machine in the first place?

Maxpad Windows 8.1 PC-TV Launched

Maxpad Windows 8.1 PC TV LaunchedApek of Brazil (coincidentally, the word “Apek” also means “uncle” in the Malay archipelago) has just launched a large screen Windows 8.1-powered PC-TV that is called Maxpad. Not the most exciting of names, this I know, but if it works, then why not? Large sized touchscreen Windows 8 PCs have gone on sale before, but majority of these, if not all, have mainly targeted the business market. Well, the Maxpad from Apek will arrive in three sizes – 39”, 50” and 64.5” models, where all three of them feature touchscreen displays at Full HD resolution.

Apart from that, Apek will also ship the TV with a custom color of the buyer’s choice. Underneath the hood, you will be able to find an AMD A10 processor alongside a Radeon HD 7660 GPU, 8GB RAM, support for 60GB SSDs or a standard issue 500GB hard drive, as well as a 5MP camera that caters for those video call moments.

Other than Windows 8.1, the Maxpad will also come with its fair share of software programs that will allow one to snap screenshots of the current TV show that plays, before manipulating that saved screenshot via an art program. One can also send such an image over to a social network account in order to generate chatter. Last but not least, a DVR feature lets you rewind live TV shows for up to 2.5 hours prior, now how about that?

Unfortunately, these will be pretty pricey – with the 39”, 50” and 63.5” models retailing for approximately $5,400, $9,000 and $12,000, respectively, in its home market. Something tells me it costs a whole lot more there compared to other markets if the Sony PS4 pricing is anything to go by.

More On Imogen Heap’s Mi.Mu Glove For Music

Life without music is not worth living at all, at here we are with more details concerning the Mi.Mu gloves that we talked about not too long ago. Sure, there are 16 days left to go with slightly more than 33% of the funds required been raised, which means that time is running out from turning this into reality. Basically, Imogen Heap, the company behind the Mi.Mu gloves for music is looking for supporters who have an interest in owning a pair of these puppies, but would just want to be part of the ‘queue’ so to speak by pledging £10 before Imogen Heap discovers how to manufacture these bad boys for a cheaper price point and in a more efficient manner, and that would take some time – maybe up to a couple of years from now.

There is also the option to pick up a limited edition signed CD of Me The Machine (that will be available only in the Deluxe Box Set, and cannot be found anywhere else, ever), which will include the video, making of documentary, instrumental version and a dozen pages of artwork that will hopefully blow your mind away. Another way to support this project would be to purchase the Streemliner (digital) version of all of that for a mere £5. Should you love to dabble in remixes yourself, how about picking up the Me The Machine stems for 50 quid? [Kickstarter Page]

Bing.com Gets Personalized Cards

Bing.com Gets Personalized CardsGoogle is still the undisputed champion when it comes to Internet search, but this does not mean that its competitors are pleased to just play second fiddle without doing anything to improve their lot. Yahoo, for instance, intends to end up as the default search engine on iOS, while here we are with Microsoft sprucing up Bing.com so that your search experience there is more personalized. Personalization seems to be a big thing, as folks want their homepage, social network page, gamer account, etc, to be truly unique and one of a kind. It seems that Microsoft is heading in the right direction then.

The standard issue front page on Bing comes with a bunch of virtual cards that are located on the bottom which show off the currently trending news stories. Well, it seems that you can now head on to the Settings section of the site in order to configure the page, allowing the cards to show off even more personalized news, weather, sports happenings, stock prices, and airline flight times, among others.

It is tipped that this particular personalized service will make its way to other Microsoft platforms in due time, and as long as you remain signed in, Bing will be able to take note of your interests and notify you during the appropriate moments concerning a wide range of Bing-powered Microsoft services. Right now, the number of items that can be set up in the Bing personalized cards remain limited, but do expect additions to be made down the road. [Press Release]
