Wolfenstein: The New Order Pre Order Bonuses Includes TF2 Items And DOOM Beta AccessIf there’s one thing that Team Fortress 2 is known for, it would be its hats which gamers can purchase using real money. They’re merely cosmetic items and don’t add to the player’s stats or bonuses, but if you’re the type that cares about aesthetics, then it’s definitely worth taking a look at.

Now the good news is that if you were interested in getting your hands on the upcoming Wolfenstein: The New Order game, you might be pleased to learn that Valve has sweetened the deal by announcing some pre-order bonuses if you were to pre-order the game via Steam. Gamers who pre-order the game can be expected to receive two items: Die Regime-Panzerung and Der Maschinensoldaten-Helm. (more…)

Facebook Acquisition Will Make Sense In A Year, According To Oculus VR’s Founder

When Facebook announced their acquisition of Oculus VR, we’re sure the company was not expecting such a huge amount of backlash for both developers and consumers alike. Oculus VR has reassured gamers that Facebook will be allowing them autonomy and given Facebook’s previous acquisitions such as Instagram, we have no reason to believe Facebook has any intentions of meddling.

In a recent video interview (transcribed by the folks at GameSpot), Oculus VR’s founder, Palmer Luckey, stated that the acquisition by Facebook will make sense to its critics a year from now. “Knowing behind the scenes what’s going on and what we need money to do and what we’re going to be able to do with this deal, I know for myself that it’s the best that we could possibly do.” (more…)

Sony’s PS4 Sales Crosses The 7 Million Mark

Sonys PS4 Sales Crosses The 7 Million MarkIt is no secret that Sony’s PlayStation 4 is doing very well, but how well are we talking about? Well according to Sony who have recently announced their latest figures, it seems that they have managed to sell over 7 million consoles to date.

It appears that things have been progressing pretty well for Sony. Back in November 2013, Sony announced that they managed to sell 1 million units in 24 hours. It was also later announced in February that Sony had sold 5.3 million units, and here we are a couple of months later where Sony announces that they have passed the 7 million units sold mark.

Now we know that there is a difference between units sold to consumers and units sold to retailers, so it should be noted that Sony mentions that the 7 million mark is sold to consumers, as opposed to retailers whose numbers are probably a little higher than that. So how does Sony fare against the competition from Microsoft’s Xbox One?

Unfortunately Microsoft has not updated its figures since January 2015 but according to reports, Microsoft has enjoyed a boost in Xbox One sales, thanks to the launch of Titanfall which at the moment is an exclusive to the Xbox platforms and the PC. In any case good on Sony for hitting those numbers and we can’t wait to see what those numbers might be when the PlayStation 4 hits its 1-year anniversary.

The Philips W6618 Smartphone Comes With A Whopping 5,300mAh Battery

The Philips W6618 Smartphone Comes With A Whopping 5,300mAh BatterySmartphones these days come with battery sizes ranging anywhere between 2,000mAh to 3,000mAh, with some going slightly over 3,000mAh, and rarely do we see phones whose batteries are of the 4,000mAh battery. At least until the Philips W6618 came along. The phone was recently launched in China and one of its main selling points is its 5,300mAh battery.

Yup, you read that right, the Philips W6618 comes with a battery that is about double the size of your average smartphone and according to the company, is apparently enough to provide users with a stand-by time of more than two months and a talk time of up to 33 hours which we have to admit is mighty impressive.

This huge battery means that it should be great for hardcore users who surf, playing games, listen to music, and talk on the phone all day. Unfortunately not everything about the phone is that great, starting with its 5-inch display which unfortunately only has resolution of 540×960. Then again the less powerful display could aid in saving battery life, so there’s that.

It will also be powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek processor, accompanied by 1GB of RAM, 4GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD, and will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and measure 11.6mm thick, which we guess is understandable given the size of its battery.

As it stands the Philips W6618 smartphone is available only in China where it is retailing for $273 and we’re not sure if there are plans to bring it stateside or to other parts of the world, but is this a phone you wouldn’t mind having just for its big battery?

iOS 8 Could Feature Built-In Song Identification Thanks To Shazam [Rumor]

iOS 8 Could Feature Built In Song Identification Thanks To Shazam [Rumor]Gone are the days when you hear a song on radio or in public and wonder, “What’s the name of that song/Who sang that?” This is thanks to apps such as Shazam and SoundHound that offers the ability to listen to songs and identify them based on their sound waves. However these are third-party apps meaning that users will need to download the app in order to use it.

Now thanks to a report by Bloomberg, it seems that Apple might be interested in making song identification a native feature in iOS 8. The report claims that Apple plans to partner up with Shazam to create a song identification feature that could see itself debut in iOS 8, much like how Yahoo’s Weather and Stock news come preinstalled on iOS devices by default, although we’re not sure what Shazam’s integration will look like.

We have heard the rumors suggesting that Apple could be looking to revamp its iTunes Store and given that Shazam can not only identify songs by television shows and other media, it is possible that by integrating Shazam into iOS 8, it will allow users another method/channel in which they will be able to purchase that song or television show that they have just identified.

Neither Apple nor Shazam have commented on this potential deal yet and we doubt that either company would be very eager to disclose it at this point in time, so take it with a grain of salt for now. Apple is also expected to debut iOS 8 at WWDC 2014 which is taking place later this June, so perhaps we will find out more about the upcoming update then. In the meantime what do you guys think about this potential feature?
