Yahoo And Vevo Partner Up For Original Music Programming

Yahoo And Vevo Partner Up For Original Music ProgrammingIt is safe to say that in terms of videos on the internet, YouTube is the king and is pretty much everyone’s go-to website when they want to search for videos. This is despite alternatives out there such as Daily Motion and Vimeo, both of whom offer similar video hosting services, but we guess given YouTube’s reputation and how long it has been established, it would be hard to knock them off their spot.

However that’s not spotting companies such as Yahoo from trying. According to reports, Yahoo has recently struck up a new deal with Vevo, which for those unfamiliar, is a joint effort between the Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment, two of the largest record labels in the world at the moment.

Vevo has a ton of videos on YouTube but apparently they are trying to lose their dependency on YouTube where the terms and conditions of its use is pretty much subject to the whims of its parent company, Google. Now Yahoo and Vevo have worked together in the past on Yahoo Music, but apparently this move is expected to bring its videos and even original music programming to Yahoo Screen.

We have heard of Yahoo’s ambitions to acquire high-end original programming so it is possible that by working with Vevo, it’s one of the ways Yahoo will be able to bring additional original video content onto its website. Will Yahoo and Vevo’s partnership help to draw more users onto Yahoo Screen? We guess we will have to wait and see, but in the meantime what do you guys think?

Line Messaging App Announces New Sticons Feature

Line Messaging App Announces New Sticons FeatureIf there is one feature that the messaging app Line is known for, it would be its stickers. The sticker store is constantly updated with new stickers and is used by companies to help market movies and television shows and even music by releasing stickers in its likeness, like Avengers-related stickers, Psy-themed stickers, and so on.

Line has recently announced that they have updated their Android app with a new feature called Sticons. Just in case the name wasn’t obvious enough, Sticons are basically a combination of both stickers and icons. They can be used in regular text messages within the apps (as pictured above), but when sent individually, their size increases to resemble that of a sticker.

Unfortunately this update appears to be available only for Android first while an iPhone version is being worked on. At the moment there are over 1,000 different Sticons to choose from in five different categories: faces, animals, symbols, sports, and vehicles. It is unclear if just like its stickers feature, Line has plans to open up a market for its Sticons where additional Sticons can be purchased for a small fee.

In any case if you’d like to check out Sticons and the Line messenger app, it is free for download and you can head on over to the Google Play store for the download.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Save File Will Impact The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Save File Will Impact The Phantom PainMetal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is a relatively short game, but this is to be expected since Ground Zeroes was meant to act as a prequel to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain that could see a release in 2015. This in no way detracts from the game despite it being a short game as reviews of Ground Zeroes have revealed that it is a pretty good game.

That being said, if you’re playing Ground Zeroes and were planning on getting Phantom Pain, you might want to keep your Ground Zeroes save file because according to Konami, it seems that the save file of your Ground Zeroes game could affect your Phantom Pain game. One of the examples they gave is that by loading your Ground Zeroes save file onto Phantom Pain will have all the POWs you saved in Ground Zeroes appear in the Mother Base.

That feature was mentioned in the past, but Konami adds that there will also be unique characters appearing in Phantom Pain, depending on your Ground Zeroes save file. We’re not sure what sort of criteria one must have on their save file or if there must be certain missions/achievements done in Ground Zeroes in order to unlock certain characters, but either way it will be worth your while to keep the save file around.

Unfortunately Konami does not mention what sort of unique characters we can expect, but if you’re the type of gamer who must have every achievement and unlock every character, then perhaps this is something worth keeping in mind when you play Ground Zeroes.

WP 8.1 GDR2 Update Could Support 2K Displays And Snapdragon 805 [Rumor]

WP 8.1 GDR2 Update Could Support 2K Displays And Snapdragon 805 [Rumor]Just the other day, Microsoft officially released the preview version of Windows Phone 8.1. This update is primarily targeted at developers as the final version of the build has yet to make its way to the handsets of end users. That being said, we also reported that despite Windows Phone 8.1 having yet to be released, word has it that Microsoft could be planning at least two more GDR updates that will see a release this year, with the third expected to be released in 2015.

So with Windows Phone 8.1 packing a fair amount of new features, such as the Cortana voice assistant feature, what other features will Microsoft bring to the table with future GDR updates? Well according to Nokia Power User, their sources have revealed to them some of the features that could be present in the GDR2 update.

One of the rumored features is support for 2K displays. As it stands Microsoft currently supports displays up to Full HD and with Android devices from Oppo, Vivo, and LG to sport 2K displays, we guess Microsoft thinks that they should probably catch up before it becomes too late. New resolutions support in Windows Phone 8.1 include 960×540 and 854×480.

The rumor also suggests that there will be support for Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipsets as well, meaning that Windows Phone users can probably look forward to even more powerful Windows Phone devices. There’s no way of knowing if any of this is real, but earlier leaked benchmarks have pointed to devices with 2K displays and Snapdragon 805 processor, so perhaps there’s some truth to them, but what do you guys think?

Are you looking forward to even more powerful Windows Phone handsets in the future, and do you think it will help encourage adoption of the platform by OEMs and consumers?

Alleged iPhone 6 Batteries Spotted On Production Tray

Alleged iPhone 6 Batteries Spotted On Production TrayThanks to a series of leaks and rumors, photos of iPhone-related components have surfaced. Recently we saw molds that are allegedly being used for the next-gen iPhone, a front panel, and now thanks to the folks at French website, Nowhereelse.fr, additional photos have surfaced, this time that of batteries that supposedly belong to the iPhone.

While there’s no way of confirming if the photo is real and if the batteries do belong to the iPhone, their design is reminiscent of the batteries used in previous iPhones, so it is possible that these are indeed iPhone batteries. However it’s probably easy enough to fake such photos, so take it with a grain of salt for now.

However it should be noted that the design of these batteries are slightly different from its predecessors. This is namely due to the metallic section on the battery which now appears at the side, suggesting that the internals of the iPhone could have been rearranged, hinting at a new form factor which seems to be in line with the rumors.

The photos do not mention how big the batteries are in terms of capacity, but hopefully Apple has stepped up its battery size as battery life is one of the primary complaints that iPhone owners have about their phone, at least according to a research that Apple did with their customers.

It’s interesting that photos are being leaked this early in the year which would suggest that Apple is beginning to ramp up production of the next-gen iPhone (or iPhones) that would most likely see a launch in the later part of the year, assuming Apple keeps to their schedule of course. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now until we can get the official word from Apple.
