Galaxy S5 PayPal Fingerprint Support Disabled By Verizon

Galaxy S5 PayPal Fingerprint Support Disabled By VerizonAs we’re sure many of you guys know by now, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will come with a fingerprint scanner. Not only will the scanner be used to unlocked the phone, but it can also be used to authenticate PayPal payments. Sounds good, right? Unfortunately it seems that the feature will not be making its way onto Verizon’s version of the Galaxy S5.

This was discovered by the folks at Droid-Life who realized that the Verizon version of the Galaxy S5 does not come with the ability to use the fingerprint scanner to authorize PayPal payments. Given that this is one of the features that Samsung has been pushing, we’re betting that Samsung can’t be too happy about this omission. (more…)

T-Mobile’s CEO Shows Off Gold-Plated HTC One M8

T Mobiles CEO Shows Off Gold Plated HTC One M8Remember about a week ago we reported that the brand new HTC One M8 would get a gold-plated treatment and only be sold in certain markets? Well it turns that that T-Mobile’s CEO, John Legere, managed to get his hands on one of the units which he states is courtesy of HTC. The CEO recently took to Twitter to show off his latest handset.

According to Legere, “Just call me #goldfinger! Check out the 24kt #HTCOneM8 the peeps at @HTCUSA sent me! This thing is awesome! #HTCOneUp”. Unfortunately the photo does not show off just how shiny and awesome the phone might look had we seen it in real life, but you can bet that we are a little bit jealous. (more…)

Apple Reportedly Blocking Music Rivals From Purchasing iAds

Apple Reportedly Blocking Music Rivals From Purchasing iAdsApple’s iTunes Radio is definitely not the first of its kind. In fact the music service has competitors in the form of Pandora. That being said, would it make sense for Apple to allow a rival company to advertise on its iAd platform? Wouldn’t that basically be Apple letting the competition steal its customers away?

Well apparently Apple thinks so as well, and according to a music-streaming service based in the UK called Bloom.fm, they have apparently received an email from Apple informing them that they have banned the company from advertising on its iAd platform due to Bloom.fm being a director competitor to iTunes Radio.

According to a Bloom.fm’s spokesman, “We’re a small company from west London made up of just 27 people. It’s amusing and flattering to have been noticed by a monstrous company like Apple. They told us we are a competitive service to iTunes radio, despite the fact we are UK-only and iRadio has not launched here.”

Interestingly enough despite not being allowed to advertise on Apple’s iAd platform, Bloom.fm is available on iOS so if you’d like to check it out and see if the service is truly a competitor to iTunes Radio, head on over to the iTunes App Store for the download. In the meantime we are hearing rumors that Apple could be looking overhaul its iTunes Music Store and that they could be bringing high-definition audio.

Leaked iPhone Cases Reveal New Button Cut Outs

Leaked iPhone Cases Reveal New Button Cut OutsWe have been hearing rumors that the next-gen iPhone could come in two-sizes: a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model, although the latter has been rumored to launch at a later date. We have also seen alleged leaked schematics that supposedly shows off the new phone’s design and dimension, and now thanks to a photo obtained by Nowhereelse.fr, phone cases have surfaced that are apparently based on said design.

Now the photos don’t really tell us how big the phone is, but it does show two different sizes, although they are said to be of the 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch variety, which contradicts earlier reports that the larger iPhone will be of the 5.5-inch size. Interestingly enough the cases also shows a couple of different cut outs for button placements.

As it stands the placement of the buttons on the iPhone have been pretty much standard from its early inception until today. However the photo shows additional cutouts in the top left corner of the phone, and the top right side profile of the phone. The case also shows the usual cutouts so it would suggest that not only will there be buttons moved about, but there could be new buttons added as well.

This seems to corroborate earlier claims by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that the new iPhone could feature a moved power/sleep button. In any case the case manufacturer could simply be basing the design of the cases on rumors and leaks, as opposed to the actual dimensions since we doubt Apple would have shared with them the details at such an early date. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if the rumors are true, which sized iPhone are you planning on getting?

T Mobile Offering BlackBerry Users $200 To Upgrade To SamsungWe’re sure you might have heard by now that BlackBerry and T-Mobile have recently announced that their licensing deal would be coming to an end, and that the deal will not be renewed. Given T-Mobile’s recent tactics which appear to target BlackBerry customers, it’s safe to say that the relationship between both companies aren’t exactly what it used to be.

However it seems that T-Mobile is not done with BlackBerry just yet. The carrier has recently announced a new deal targeting BlackBerry users where they are offering customers a $200 gift card if they were willing to buy a new Samsung smartphone, which presumably would take the place of their BlackBerry device.
