Nokia To Provide Chennai Factory Workers With Redundancy PackagesFor the most part, governments around the world have approved the Microsoft-Nokia deal, save for India in which they are having a dispute with Nokia at the moment regarding taxes. To help the deal move forward, Nokia has decided to forgo the inclusion of their factory in Chennai which would have been transferred over to Microsoft if everything had gone to plan.

Now the good news is that Nokia will not be forsaking their workers in India and have recently announced that they will be providing redundancy packages to their workers. Microsoft Research Shows Off Interactive Live Tiles

The tiles feature found on Windows Phone and the Windows operating system are pretty useful as they help provide the user with information at a glance, but wouldn’t it be a great idea if users could somehow find a way to interact with it even further? This would undoubtedly help increase the feature’s functionality, and apparently that is what Microsoft is experimenting on at the moment.

A series of video clips were originally uploaded by Microsoft Research but were soon taken down. There was even a link to the “Interactive Tile” project on Microsoft’s website that has since been removed, although thankfully there were some out there, who were quick enough to nab the videos and have since re-uploaded them for our viewing pleasure. Super clever stop motion animation uses wood like you’ve never seen

Super clever stop motion animation uses wood like you've never seen

Andre Maat had the brilliant idea to play with the shape and consistency of wood in his stop-motion video Woodoo and it warps the naturally stiff material into a living, breathing (and smoking object). The execution is pretty fantastic, each shape fluidly transforms into another. I love it when things do things they’re not supposed to.

Mathematicians Develop App That Will Supposedly Eliminate Jetlag

If you have ever traveled to countries where the time difference of that country and your home is huge, you’ve probably experienced a rather nasty side-effect known as jetlag. For those who haven’t experienced jetlag, it basically makes you tired at odd hours of the day and extremely awake and alert in the dead of the night.

This is because your body isn’t used to the time difference and the times you’re feeling sleepy would actually be the times that you should be asleep in your country. Now thanks to a group of mathematicians from the University of Michigan, they claim to have developed an app called Entrain that will supposedly do away with the feeling of jetlag. (more…)
