It does seem as though man loves to break all sorts of records, and in the process, perhaps some bones along the way. All right, the latter statement is not exactly true, but it does hold some water if you are referring to the Thrusters by Dreamscience. Basically, the Thrusters happen to be a quartet of small jet engines that are strapped to your stomach, where you are then able to ski a whole lot faster than before, as though you are now the resident speed demon or something.
The Thrusters’ engines will be powered by an on-board battery pack, where this quartet of electric jet engines have been tested by the likes of paragliders, skaters, skiiers and snowboarders alreader. Snowboarder Jamie Barrow managed to hit a top speed of 50 miles per hour when he decided to test out the Thrusters prototype, all the way out on a frozen lake near St. Moritz, Switzerland. That speed was achieved by depending on the Thrusters alone, so do stretch your imagination a little if you were to be on a slope.
Right now, the Trusters remain under development, where the latest version would offer 132 pounds of burst thrust or a top sustainable force of 88 pounds of thrust for a quarter of an hour.

For long it has been rumored that LG is working on its own system-on-a-chip a.k.a SoC based on ARM architectures. A few months back it even got a name, Odin. Its believed to feature a big.LITTLE configuration with four 2.2Ghz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.7GHz Cortex A7. Apparently based on the 28nm manufacturing process, the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is reportedly going to handle production. Latest rumor suggests that the LG Odin process might be entering into the mass production stage “soon.”
Despite rumors that the homegrown SoC is expected to enter mass production in the near future, rumor has it that LG won’t be using it in its next flagship. Since most of its rivals have now come out with their flagships, all eyes are on LG to see what it comes up with in the G3. LG hasn’t confirmed which chips its going to opt for as far as its next flagship smartphone is concerned.
The delay in Odin’s mass production is attributed to LG facing issues with final design. It is now believed that the company will first test the waters with its new chip in low-end smartphones, and that it doesn’t want to take such a big risk with its 2014 flagship. LG Odin powered smartphones might show up in the market in the second half of this year.

For some, smoking is an occasional habit that is often paired with a night out on the town. Others face the more addictive side, and while they may want to quit, it is far more difficult limiting to one or two every so often. Many who fit the latter description have started moving to vaporizers. These will heat the product rather than burn it, so you’re getting vapor instead of smoke or passing along secondhand smoke.
The PAX Loose Leaf Vaporizer is one such device that is meant for people on the go. It has an LED indicator light, which will tell you the temperature and battery status. There are a few options for the temperature settings, and it’s usually ready to go within about 30 seconds. The retractable mouthpiece will turn this on or off, and the initial purchase comes with two packets of mouthpiece lubricant which you will need to make sure the sensor is working properly (it can get a bit sticky after a while).
It’s small enough to fit in your pocket, and comes in purple, blue, green, or black. There is an included charging dock which it sits upright in, and loading product into it is relatively simple. You will need to clean it out fairly regularly, and while there is a kit included, you will likely need more wipes and pipe cleaners over time. This will cost around $250, and there are car chargers, oven lids, extra screens, and more available for those who end up going for one of these.
Available for purchase on Ploom

Heartbleed is a scary thing. Aside from the violent-sounding name, the vulnerability in OpenSSL security protocols spans the entire internet and affects most of the sites we know, love, and use
Since being unveiled at Google I/O 2012, the company has strictly controlled spread of Google Glass units. It launched an Explorer Program and gradually provided units to interested individuals, provided that they were U.S. residents and were willing to pay $1,500 for the privilege. Since then the company has greatly expanded the program by opening it up to Play Music All Access subscribers and even allowing friend referrals. If a latest report is true, then for one day Google may allow anyone in the U.S. to purchase Glass.
A leaked slide obtained by The Verge shows that on April 15th at 6 am PDT Google may announce a limited time expansion of the Explorer Program. It is imperative to note here that this doesn’t mark the start of Glass’s public release. Its classified as an expansion of the program in the slide, which aims to put units in hands of as many people as it can. A free frame or shade may also be included with the purchase.
Just because its opening up the floodgates for one day doesn’t mean Google won’t charge you anything. Its mentioned in the slide that the purchase will cost the usual $1,500. Given the interest people have displayed in paying premium on eBay for a unit, its likely that Google may be able to sell quite a few units.
There are two reasons why the company might be expanding Explorer Program, albeit for one day. Google probably wants to get it out to as many people as it can in order to expedite testing and development prior to the public release. The company might also be unloading Explorer edition stock before the release. Since Explorer edition units were never meant to be publicly released, its highly unlikely that Google would have produced more units that it required, so it may very well be able to clear stock come April 15th. We still have to wait for official word from Mountain View though.

Posted in: Today's ChiliTokujin Yoshioka‘s aptly named Agravic table sticks a marble slab between two perfectly placed prisms that balance the weight with crazy-precise accuracy. The Japanese designer calls it the "table of the universe" thanks to its apparent ability to eff around with gravity. It’s awe-inspiring—and definitely not built to host a dinner party. This is a rendering, but the real deal is on display in Milan this week. [Spoon & Tamago]
