Google’s New Calendar App Gets A Visual Overhaul

Googles New Calendar App Gets A Visual OverhaulFor those who synchronize their Google accounts with their Android phone, this means that not only will you be able to get your emails on your phone, but also your calendar appointments, and any changes made in the calendar app will also affect the web version, assuming you’re synchronized, of course.

Now the calendar app has pretty much kept its look for the past year or so and while it does the job just fine, perhaps it could do with some touching up and that’s apparently what Google had in mind too. This is thanks to a recent series of screenshots obtained by the folks at Geek.com when they managed to get their hands on a device that ran the latest internal build of the calendar app (codenamed Timely).

As you can see in the image above, the visual overhaul is pretty drastic. Google has done away with the grids and instead has opted for a more “flatter” and cleaner minimal look. According to Geek, there are also apparently some visual flourishes that could not be captured in the screenshots, but supposedly they are quite pretty.

For the most part the app appears to run the same, just looking different, but then again how different can you change a calendar app, right? However Google has also added some new features, like a Daily Agenda that will collate a single day’s worth of activities. The app will also show birthdays with the information pulled from your contacts list as well as Google+.

There’s no telling when the new calendar app will launch, but for all we know it could be part of Android 4.4.3 KitKat which is apparently currently being tested. In the meantime what do you guys think? Do you welcome the visual changes?

Press Render Of LG L90 For T-Mobile Leaked

Press Render Of LG L90 For T Mobile LeakedEarlier this year ahead of MWC 2014, LG announced a slew of new handsets and the LG L90 was one of them. Now just last week we learnt that the LG L90 could be making its way onto T-Mobile’s network and now thanks to a recent photo by the ever-reliable @evleaks, the press rendering of T-Mobile’s version of the LG L90 has since been leaked online.

To be fair there’s nothing about the handset that would indicate its arrival for T-Mobile, but @evleaks has been pretty reliable and spot on with his leaks in the past, so perhaps there might be some truth to his claims. There’s no word on when the LG L90 will be released although the rumors have it pegged for the 23rd of April.

For those who might have missed our MWC 2014 coverage, here’s a recap of the LG L90 for you guys. The handset will pack a 4.7-inch 540×960 display. It’s not the highest resolution you might expect but it will get the job done, not to mention it does help to cut down the cost of the device which in turn could result in an affordable handset.

The LG L90 will also be powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage, and a microSD card slot for those who might need additional storage. It will also come with an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, and a 2,540mAh battery and will also come with LG’s Knock Code security feature.

There are some parts of the world in which the LG L90 has already been launched where it has since been priced around $317 unlocked, so we can assume that when it does arrive on T-Mobile, it should be pretty cheap/affordable as well.

Sprint’s HTC One M8 Apparently Comes With Harman/Kardon Speakers

Sprints HTC One M8 Apparently Comes With Harman/Kardon SpeakersA couple of years ago, HTC and Beats Audio announced a deal in which Beats Audio’s technology would see an integration into certain HTC devices, giving them an advantage over the competition, at least in terms of sound. However HTC later sold back their stake in Beats Audio to the company which has us wondering if HTC could be looking for a similar partnership in the future with a different company?

Well it turns out that they have and that company is none other than Harman/Kardon. According to @evleaks, he has revealed that Sprint will soon be getting a HTC One Harman/Kardon edition, although at this point in time we’re not sure when the device will be released, neither are we sure if he’s talking about the HTC One from 2013, or the HTC One M8 which was recently released.

However it seems that it’s more than likely that he’s referring to the HTC One M8, thanks to a recent post in the XDA forums in which the Harman/Kardon audio settings can be found in the phone’s settings, although perhaps it has not been activated yet as Sprint is still waiting on the deal to close.

Apparently Sprint’s version of the HTC One M8 will come with Harman/Kardon speakers, as opposed to other models on other carriers which would sport normal speakers, so rest easy if you bought the handset on Sprint because you won’t have to rebuy it. We’re not sure what the difference in audio quality would be yet since it hasn’t been officially announced, but you can bet that we are definitely excited. Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info.
