Google teased us with a behind-the-scenes look at Project Ara’s progress last week, and now it’s giving would-be module makers some meat to dig into with its new Module Developers Kit. As the name implies, this release really isn’t meant for laymen:…
Juggling might be the most fun useless skill to have. People who can’t juggle see it as some impossible trick while those who have mastered the skill can see through the flying orb planets as some easy math problem. Just check out the view from a juggler’s perspective. For me, a non-juggler, it looks like the ball is going to smack me in the face. For the guy in the video? It ain’t no thang.

Think beyond watches and beyond glass, to a world fueled by the smallest bits of hardware humans have ever had the joy of experimenting with! Join us for another Wearable Wednesday SF as we dive into talking about the hardware powering tomorrow’s hottest innovations.
Sensors, batteries, and hard drives are no longer limited to clunky machines. They are being integrated seamlessly into jewelry, fabrics, appliances, and more! As the bits of technology that fuel our apps grow smaller and smaller the questions beg to be asked: how tiny can we truly go, how long can they really last between charges, and when will we finally live in a wireless world? We will dive into these questions and more Wednesday with the industry’s great minds – picking apart the pieces to the market’s leading technological products.

The dystopia created in this animation by Simon Russell is a world I hope to never be a part of: drones littered across the sky, surveillance cameras pointing every which way and for some reason, dubstep. It doesn’t all make sense but Russell’s imaginative take on the look of futuristic drones and cameras are perfectly chaotic and crazy. Some floating orb drones look like mini Death Stars while other cameras are like machine guns.
Back in March, Nikon announced their latest mirrorless camera in the form of the Nikon 1 V3. However it seems that the Nikon 1 V3 is not the only mirrorless camera Nikon has up their sleeves. This is thanks to recent rumors and now a recent photo leak of the upcoming Nikon 1 J4 that is rumored to debut next week.
Naturally Nikon has not confirmed any of this so take it with a grain of salt for now, although given that Nikon’s mirrorless cameras do come in the V and J variety, we guess an update to its J-lineup is expected. (more…)

Facebook To Remove In-App Messaging, Forces Users To Download Messenger App
Posted in: Today's ChiliFacebook Messenger, for those unfamiliar, is a separate app that lets you message your friends without actually having to open up the Facebook app itself. However there are times when it gets a little annoying when messages pop up in the Facebook app and on the Messenger app simultaneously, but it seems that Facebook will be putting an end to that.
According to reports, Facebook has confirmed that they will be removing the Messenger feature from its Facebook mobile app, instead if Facebook users want to chat with their friends on mobile, they will have to turn to Facebook Messenger instead. However not all devices will be affected by this, according to Facebook. (more…)

Is the demand for the PC starting to slip in the face of smartphones, tablets, and Chromebooks as viable alternatives? Well it would seem so because according to a recent report from the IDC, they have reported that worldwide PC shipments totaled 73.4 million units in the first quarter of 2014. This is actually a 4.4% decline year-on-year which does not bode well for PC manufacturer.
However it seems that despite PC shipments starting to slip, IDC has found that Lenovo is still maintaining their number one position in worldwide PC shipments with shipments in Q1 totalling 12.9 million. They are followed by HP who are pretty close at 12.55 million, followed by Dell which is a pretty distant third at 9.8 million. Acer and ASUS also made the list at fourth and fifth place respectively but it seems even their combined might does not even reach Lenovo’s numbers. (more…)
