Blizzard Files For Overwatch Trademark

Blizzard Files For Overwatch TrademarkWhen it comes to the world of games, the folks over at Blizzard have done a fantastic job over the years with their numerous franchises, ranging from StarCraft to WarCraft and Diablo, spawning sequels after the initial title, where just about all of them happen to be hits. Well, does Blizzard have anything new up their sleeves? Apparently, as the company has just filed a trademark for something that will be known as Overwatch, and this particular trademark deals with all of the standard game and gaming-related categories.

Apart from that, Blizzard’s own recruiting page did mention an unannounced game title, which might have something to do with Overwatch, although nothing has been confirmed just yet. Normally, Blizzard does devote most, if not all of its resources to large teams that work on key franchises, but this particular model seems to be undergoing a change.

In fact, Blizzard did mention recently that they might break off into smaller teams so that these individual teams will be able to work on new kinds of games that will offer a faster turnover, such as Heroes of Warcraft, its collectible card game. Jason Chayes of Blizzard shared, “We started up a new development team because we kind of recognised that we needed to have this ability to be more experimental, experiment with different types of games than what we were doing with our big, core franchises.”

Bradley Timepiece Specially Designed For The Blind

Bradley Timepiece Specially Designed For The BlindIt is not as though the blind or visually impaired do not have a way to tell the time, it is just that watches for them are few and far in between. Well, the Bradley Timepiece happens to be an exception to the rule, where this watch was specially designed for blind people, and it has been named after a Paralympian gold medallist who lost his ability to see in Afghanistan. The thing about the Bradley Timepiece is this – it happens to be purchased mainly by sighted people instead.

Just how does the Bradley Timepiece actually work? For starters, this timepiece would arrive with a stark, circular titanium face, and there are no hands whatsoever for you to view. Numbers too, are unsurprisingly, missing from the face of the timepiece. What it does have, however, would be a groove that is located in the center where a ball-bearing rotates in order to mark the exact minute. Around the edge of the watch would be another ball bearing that will rotate so that you know what hour it is.

The Bradley Timepiece was designed by Hyungsoo Kim who received the inspiration to come up with the watch when he was in a lecture hall at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in September 2011, as a visually impaired neighboring student asked him for the time. Don’t you just love stories with humble beginnings?

LG And Harman/Kardon Partner To Deliver Quality Audio For OLED And Ultra HD TVs

LG And Harman/Kardon Partner To Deliver Quality Audio For OLED And Ultra HD TVsIt pays to synergize as you can maximize the strengths of both parties , where more often than not, it would result in an exponential benefit. LG’s partnership with Harman/Kardon has started to bear fruit, where their collaboration focused on developing an advanced audio technology that will be employed in a couple of its OLED TV models as well as up to five of its ULTRA HD TVs. The ULTRA Surround system is tipped to deliver a level of viewer immersion that LG claims could be found only in cinemas before this.

I suppose there is no harm at all in partnering with one of the most respected names in the audio industry, and Harman/Kardon has worked alongside LG engineers to develop a speaker system which could deliver even, distortion-free sound with deep bass as well as a wide bandwidth. ULTRA Surround is capable of reproducing audio with amazing fidelity, where viewers would be placed at the center of a wide and evenly dispersed soundstage.

Your ears will benefit from superb dynamic range, in addition to sound balance with exceptional accuracy. It also boasts of an extra wide playable bandwidth and powerful output, and everything sounds all the more realistic thanks to a state-of-the-art algorithm that delivers convincingly real soundscapes. Bing Flight Price Predictor Shuts Down

Bing Flight Price Predictor Shuts DownMicrosoft must be busy reorganizing their stuff, considering how they have already stopped official support for the Windows XP operating system and its Office 2003 suite, not to mention closing the door on a service on its Bing Travel site, too. Apparently, this flight price prediction tool is no longer an option on the site. Bummer. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, this decision to shut down the flight price prediction tool was “a business decision to focus resources on areas where we feel there are the greatest opportunities to serve travel needs.”

I suppose the future is really unchartered territory, whether you are in possession of a palantir or not, since one can never be able to tell what is going to be a hit or not. After all, I am quite sure that Microsoft must have had grand plans for forking out a rumored $115 million for Farecast in 2008, which is the company that provided the technology required for such a tool.

The whole premise of the flight price prediction tool is to check out if a particular airline flight that one intends to hop on down the road would increase or decrease in price. Oren Etzioni, the original founder of Farecast, was not too happy to hear of this closure by Microsoft, where he thinks that this happens to be one of the “most distinctive features of Bing.” For those who are looking for alternatives, there is always Kayak.

Hey look a weird bright light was spotted on Mars

Do you see it? There’s a little beacon of light in the photograph of Mars above. It’s on the left side of the photo and it’s pretty darn bright. What could it be? More importantly, what do we want it to be? A Martian signal keeping track of the Curiosity rover? An alien laser beam? A key to a secret portal in the universe? A superhero?
