I’ve been wearing a Pebble Smartwatch over the last few months and a lot of the time, it’s annoying having something on my wrist. If you like the idea of a wearable fitness device, but you don’t want something so bulky, G-Wearable’s Goccia might be the gadget for you. The device is billed as the smallest and simplest activity tracker in all the land.
Goccia is about the diameter of a dime and weighs just a little more than a penny (and it looks a bit like a Life Savers candy). It is small enough that you don’t need to wear it on your wrist like most fitness devices. It’s available with different mounts that let you wear it on a sleeve, a shoe, or even a hair band. It’s built from durable aluminum and Gorilla Glass, and is waterproof, and the Goccia tracks multiple activities, including time spent running, swimming, hiking, sleeping, and more.
It’s good for up to two weeks of use per charge and charges with no wires. It uses LED lights to tell you how close you are to your daily fitness goals. It also transfers detailed data to a smartphone app for tracking and uses LED light transmitting tech rather than Bluetooth to cut down on power use and size.
The project is raising funds on Kickstarter, where a pledge of $60(USD) or more by April 24 will get you a Goccia this May.
Fitness trackers and smartwatches come a dime a dozen, but devices that combine the best of both? Still exceedingly rare. Now, however, Samsung thinks it has the perfect solution in the Gear Fit, a fitness band with a beautiful, curved screen, as…
When Elaine on Seinfeld failed a drug test after eating a poppy seed muffin back in the 1996 episode "The Shower Head," the idea that you could fail a drug test after eating poppy seeds took off. Turns out, this wasn’tyet another Hollywood writer invention—you really can potentially fail a drug test if you eat poppy seeds.

Posted in: Today's ChiliWhat do you think if there was this particular position or vacancy that opened up, allowing you to watch adult rated material simply because it is your job to do so? I do wonder what kind of career advancement one would be able to enjoy in this line of work – do you get to watch other categories of adult material? Chances are it would be a more supervisory role instead, I suppose. Chinese civil servant Chunqi Liu, who happens to be a former policeman, has been employed by the government to watch up to 330 clips of porn each day.
Where does Liu come in? Well, for instance, local authorities who plan a midnight raid on an illegal DVD store that has been set up in an alley somewhere, selling such prohibited materials, would require Liu to jump into action since he would then need to go through all the discs.
The 59-year-old former policeman claimed that this job has taken its toll on him, as he has ended up physically ill, not to mention losing his appetite for days while causing his marriage to be on the rocks. I suppose if one were to actually be in such a position, then there has to be some sort of counselor on deck to help him sort out his issues.

The Office 365 software subscription service was launched back in June 2011. China, one of the most populated countries in the world with a rapidly growing tech market, was among the few countries that weren’t supported by the new service. It has taken Microsoft almost three years to finally come through with Office 365 China launch. The subscription service will be offered from local data centers within China, and will be operated by 21Vianet.
This announcement comes on the heels of Microsoft Azure’s general availability in China, which is also operated by 21Vianet, last month. Customers in China will be able to access Office, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Lync Online as well as specialized services such as Visio Pro and Project Pro for Office 365 by subscribing to the service.
The launch event was held in Shanghai. The government of Shanghai is one of the early adopters of Office 365 in China. It is also being used by the Shaanxi government to set up its IT infrastructure as well as to foster regional growth in the Xi Xi’an new area. Additional Chinese early adopters include Dongfeng Renault, ICBC Leasing, TCL and more.
Microsoft is certainly making big investments in the People’s Republic and by the looks of it, this will continue in the future as well. Recent rumors indicate that the company might also be planning to launch Xbox One in China.

There are always those out there who do not want to follow the rules because they think that they know better. Case in point, this particular lady who hit a cyclist near Koroit, which is a small rural town in western Victoria, Australia. Apparently, the cyclist was on the edge of the road as the lady’s hit him from behind with her car, never mind that he had taken the necessary precautions such as having lights on the back as well as front of his bike. The poor cyclist suffered from a spinal fracture that required surgery as well as placement in a spinal cage, not to mention a broken big toe and lacerations to his head and body. In fact, he was also informed that he might end up as a paraplegic. Apparently, the 21 year old driver Kimberley Davis was discovered to use her phone to text 44 times as she drove before the accident happened.
It was the sending and receiving 22 text messages to seven different people that would most probably have led to such a situation, and even more galling is the fact that she did not want to help her victim, deciding to park 100 meters up the road instead while expressing disbelief that the victim called triple-O (the equivalent of 9-1-1 emergency services in Australia)
When questioned by the police shortly after the accident, she said, “I just don’t care because I’ve already been through a lot of bull***t and my car is like pretty expensive and now I have to fix it. I’m kind of p****d off that the cyclist has hit the side of my car. I don’t agree that people texting and driving could hit a cyclist. I wasn’t on my phone when I hit the cyclist.”
She ended up with a fine of $4,500 and lost her licence for nine months in the end. Do you think that the sentence meted out was just? I just find her thoughts on the situation rather surprising, especially when she considered how a human life is worth less than her car.

In the past, you might have needed two monitors to have enough computing real estate, but the coming wave of 4K displays promises to change that. Gamers might want to take note
While everyone (and everything) dies in time, just how and when they die has changed a lot in the past few decades; it’s not necessarily clear how you’re likely to kick the bucket. Thankfully, Bloomberg has used visual data to make sense of death…
