In about a week Microsoft is going to kill support for Windows XP, one of the most popular iterations of its operating system. It has been around for a long, long time and there are still a lot of users out there who haven’t updated to subsequent iterations. The company has been trying to raise awareness about the potential threats that may rise after support for Windows XP is stopped. It has even started offering a $100 discount to users who jump ship from Windows XP to Windows 8.1, the latest iteration. But it appears that those migrating prefer Windows 7 over Windows 8.

Footwear hasn’t exactly been a hotbed for true technological innovation, but these shoes change that. Israeli startup B-Shoe Technologies has developed some new shoes that incorporate some really helpful features. Like, helping you to not fall.

In the United States of America alone, one out of three people over 65 has fallen and suffered injuries as a result. By age 80, almost every older person has fallen and hurt themselves. This lowers their life expectancy and costs us all billions of dollars. So how do you keep them upright? When these shoes detect that the user has lost their balance and is about to fall backwards, the motorized heel drives the shoe back, restoring balance.

It is an ingenious and simple solution. It performs a corrective maneuver faster than an elderly person might be able to. The company has produced three pairs of B-Shoes so far and they’re being tested in hospitals in Israel.

Microsoft has announced that its going to start previewing some new Xbox One TV features. They will only be rolled out to select Xbox Live members by invite in the U.S., Europe and Canada. The company says that these features have been designed to improve the TV experience on its latest console. They include elements of OneGuide and also add universal remote control to Xbox SmartGlass.

There have been quite a few rumors recently about Samsung’s upcoming tablets. Apparently the company had a new lineup of mid-range tablets up its sleeve, the refreshed Galaxy Tab 4, Samsung stylised it as Tab4. Today the refreshed lineup has officially been announced, it comes in 7-, 8-, and 10.1-inch display sizes. Since priority is to keep the price low, specifications are modest at best.
