Amazon Will Reportedly Change The Way We Interact With Smartphones

Amazon Will Reportedly Change The Way We Interact With Smartphones

Almost a week back the very first pictures of a prototype of the much rumored Amazon smartphone were leaked online. Today additional details have been leaked about this smartphone which isn’t expected to be announced for at least a few months. To set its handset apart from the rest Amazon will apparently focus on changing the way we interact with our smartphones. It will reportedly rely upon proprietary cameras and the head-tracking system to make one handed use easier than it is today.

According to BGR the user interface will be influenced by unique tilt-based gestures. It will display additional information when the handset is titled into different directions. For example the email and calendar applications will display labels under each icon to describe their functions when the device is titled. Similarly a tilt gesture will provide quick access to camera roll when a user is composing a text message.

Similar gestures in a maps application would reportedly display Yelp rating for each result. Another given example is Amazon’s IMDB app which would reveal a film rating when a tilt gesture is used.

It sounds like Amazon has effectively eliminated the need for a home button. There is a significant downside nonetheless. Users will have to go through a big learning curve and Amazon would need to make sure that retail personnel are fully trained to teach potential customers.

So far Amazon has not commented on any rumors linking it to a smartphone. It is not yet known for sure if and when it plans on finally launching the device.

Well, if you have a love for all things undead, then you might be pleased to hear that The Walking Dead: Game of the Year Edition has been spotted on a GameStop listing.

Microsoft Organizes Party To Celebrate E.T. Videogame Dig

Microsoft Organizes Party To Celebrate E.T. Videogame DigTo dig or not to dig, that is the question. Apparently, that particular question has already been answered by the folks over at Microsoft’s Xbox Entertainment Studios, as they look set to commence the digging out of an old landfill that is located in Alamogordo, New Mexico, in order to try to locate the fabled millions of copies of “E.T” for the Atari 2600 that were allegedly buried there many years ago.

Of course, before that will happen, Microsoft has decided to make the situation a little less sombre, by throwing a free party in Alamogordo on Friday night as part of the celebrations – to commemorate both the dig as well as Atari’s game legacy in general.

This particular event will be held from 7pm to 9 pm at the GameStop location at 516 1st Street in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Those who show up will be able to take a stroll down memory lane, playing with classic Atari games while feeding themselves with free food and the classic gamer staple, soft drinks. Not only that, those who attend will also stand a chance to bring home an Xbox One, among others, at the end of the night.

This dig is going to be a historical one, since whatever that is going to be filmed would prove to be a central axis to the created documentary that explores the scenes behind the 1982 game which was based on the hit film, although the game itself bombed – big time.

Elsa’s Ice Palace LEGO Set Needs Your Votes

Frozen has turned out to be one of the most popular movies Disney has put out in a long time. The films racked up big bucks, and the toys that go along with it have sold well. Over on the LEGO Cuusoo site someone has posted a blocky version of Elsa’s ice palace complete with minifigs and guardian snowman.

Designed by Fohzen L, the entire castle is modeled in blue parts that are translucent and it looks great. With the popularity of this film, I would think it could easily rack up the votes needed to become a reality pretty easily. Whether or not LEGO can get the licensing done to make it real is another story.

It would be great to see more LEGO sets aimed at girls. My daughter plays with “boy” themed LEGO sets all the time and thinks the LEGO Friends sets aimed at girls are “lame” so it would be great to see some other gear that is a bit more girly yet still cool from LEGO.

Steve Jobs Might Be Portrayed By Leonardo DiCaprio

Steve Jobs Might Be Portrayed By Leonardo DiCaprio

Aaron Sorkin has already penned a new Steve Jobs biopic that has been adapted from his official biography. Though so far it is not known who is going to portray the deceased Apple co-founder and CEO. Previous rumors suggested that David Fincher was in talks to direct and that he was reaching out to Christian Bale for the lead. Latest word on the street is that Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle is being tapped to direct, and that he has already reached out to Leonardo DiCaprio to possibly star as Jobs.

A recent report suggested that Sony Pictures had balked at the demands being made by David Fincher, which included high pay and control over the film’s marketing. The studio is now in talks to sign Boyle who has already worked with DiCaprio in the past.

DiCaprio has had ample experience of playing the visionary guy in a number of films, the most notable of which is The Aviator. He portrayed Howard Hughes in that film and nailed all the nuances of the character. Still one might argue that there really isn’t a lot of resemblance between the two, but if Ashton Kutcher can be made to look like Steve Jobs, anything is possible.

Sorkin has revealed that the film will essentially consist of three 30-minute scenes which depict three important events in Jobs personal and professional life. Filming is expected to begin next year provided that the studio is able to get cast and crew onboard.
