New Honda ASIMO Displays More Human-like Movement

New Honda ASIMO Displays More Human like MovementHonda’s ASIMO robot has certainly wowed viewers for a few years now, but is there really a day when we can actually purchase an ASIMO to help us out around the home? You know, like those robots in I, Robot, which are supposed to help us humans with our everyday chores. The Honda ASIMO is no slouch in terms of mobility, as it walks, runs, take the stairs, just like any other normal human would be able to. Apart from that, it is also dextrous enough to open up a bottle and serve you a drink, or shake hands politely with a stranger. The folks over at Honda have given the ASIMO humanoid robot an upgrade, and boy are we thrilled.

In its debut at a Manhattan hotel, ASIMO chirped in English, “Hello New York! Thank you for coming today!”, using an audio recording of a teenaged boy. Looking like a miniaturized astronaut, the ASIMO stands at 1.3 meters in height and tips the scales at 50kg. Short for “Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility”, the most recent ASIMO model paraded showed off its increased flexibility and balance, in addition to having knowledge in communication using sign language, not to mention being able to run at speeds of up to 9km/h. It is hoped that the Honda ASIMO could one day be perfected so that it can help out the elderly in their everyday tasks.

Nokia Lumia 2520 Sales Suspended Due To Electric Shock Concerns

Nokia Lumia 2520 Sales Suspended Due To Electric Shock Concerns

Nokia’s much awaited Windows tablet was released late last year. The Lumia 2520 received good reviews but so far it is not entirely known just how well the tablet has performed in the market. Today Nokia announced that it is suspending the sales of Lumia 2520 in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Russia, Switzerland and the UK. The company discovered that the AC-300 charger it bundles with the tablet may cause an electric shock if touched when it is still plugged in a live socket. The company says its manufactured by a third party supplier.

Nokia estimates that approximately 30,000 chargers are impacted including 600 travel charger accessories sold in the U.S. Jo Harlow, EVP of Smart Devices at Nokia, said that there have been no “confirmed consumer incidents” related to this issue. The tablet is still being sold in the U.S. though Nokia has suspended sales of the travel charger accessory.

Nokia “strongly” advises customers not to use the charger until further notice. The company says that its working with suppliers to minimize the inconvenience as far as replacement chargers are concerned. Since the AC-300 charger is exclusive to the tablet the issue doesn’t affect other Nokia chargers, which can be used without any worries.

So if you happen to have the AC-300 charger with your Nokia Lumia 2520 its best to listen to the company. There have been countless tales of people getting injured and even meeting their maker due to faulty chargers.

Samsung Galaxy K Camera Sample Spotted (Rumor)

Samsung Galaxy K Camera Sample Spotted (Rumor)It seems that we now have an image of what could very well be an image sample of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy K, otherwise also referred to as the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom, where it will hopefully continue from where the Galaxy S4 Zoom left off. The image hails from a Dutch website, where it was spotted carrying the EXIF tag of Samsung SM-C115. Considering how the Galaxy S4 Zoom was referred to as the SM-C101, hence this particular codename could signify the successor to the Galaxy S4 Zoom.

Refurbished Retina iPad Mini Now Available Online

Folks who had been waiting for refurbished Retina iPad mini to be available from the Apple online store can now rejoice. The company has started selling refurbished models of its latest iPad mini. It only sells them through the online store so walking into your nearest Apple Store isn’t going to be necessary. It has taken Apple nearly six months to offer refurbished Retina iPad mini models after the tablet was first released late last year.

The refurbished models are great for customers who want to have a tablet that is as good as new without having to shell out the full retail price. Since Apple provides a one year warranty with these models, just like it does with their new counterparts, customers are covered should something unfortunate happen.

As of now the Wi-Fi only Retina iPad mini models are available through the Apple online store in 16, 32 and 64GB flavors. Cellular models might be added sometime in the future. A refurbished 16GB model costs $339. Its a decent 15 percent saving as the same tablet costs $399 at full retail.

The Retina iPad mini is perfect for customers that want the iPad experience without having to carry a big 10-inch tablet around. It has a 7.9-inch Retina display, Apple’s very own A7 processor with M7 motion coprocessor as well as 802.11n Wi-Fi with MIMO technology. Apple already offers refurbished models of the iPad Air.
