The Earth’s magnetic field protects life on Earth, shielding it from damaging radiation and moderating our climate. So the idea that it could completely flip around, or collapse altogether, should cause us to worry, right? Well, yes and no.
Canadian police just made what could possibly be the first Heartbleed-related arrest. The suspect? A 19-year-old London, Ontario teenager named Stephen Arthuro Solis-Reyes who’s being accused of hacking the Canada Revenue Agency website and stealing…

Back in 2013, Canon announced the EOS 100D DSLR camera. The camera is pretty small as far as DSLRs are concerned but we guess it makes it easier to carry compared to the higher-end professional cameras which tend to be much bigger and heavier. That being said, it seems that Canon has an exclusive model that they have announced in the UK in the form of an all-white EOS 100D camera which you can see pictured above.
As you can see in the image above, the entire camera has been painted white, save for certain parts of the camera, but safe to that pretty much the entire camera has been given a new coat of paint which we have to say is pretty striking. We can only imagine that it will look pretty good and sleek in the snow, especially if you’re trying to camouflage the camera.
In terms of the hardware, it will pack the same hardware as the regular EOS 100D. This means that photographers can look forward to an 18MP hybrid CMOS AF II sensor. It will also come with an optical viewfinder, a larger touchscreen display, Full HD video recording, and will also come bundled with the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens that has also been given a coat of white paint.
If you’re looking to attach a different lens, then we guess there will be a clash of colors, but if the 18-55mm kit lens is more than enough for you, then you’re looking at a pretty sleek looking device. As for pricing and availability, Canon has announced that the white EOS 100D will be priced at £499/€599 and will be available starting from May 2014.

Windows Phone 8.1 has yet to be released to the masses. As it stands only a Developer Preview has been released but at the same time, we’re sure more than a fair share of Windows Phone users have downloaded it anyway. That being said it seems that there are reports of how Windows Phone 8.1 has affected Nokia Lumia devices in a bad way.
According to reports, some Nokia Lumia users are experiencing issues with the power button. To be specific, the Lumia handsets affected are the Nokia Lumia Icon handsets where the power button is being unresponsive. Some have reported that it now takes about 2-3 presses of the power button in order to wake up the handset.
Assuming that this is affecting your handset, it looks like you will have to reboot your handset. For Lumia Icon users, this involves holding down the volume down and power button together for about 15 seconds, after which the phone should reboot itself. Hopefully this is an issue that Microsoft has been notified about because the last thing Microsoft would want is for the update to break any devices.
This is currently the second problem that we’re hearing about the Windows Phone 8.1 update. Previously there was a report about how Cortana could not set the alarm on Windows Phone devices, instead issuing an error message. However we should note that this is the developer preview and that the final version has yet to make its way to end-users, so hopefully Microsoft will deal with all these bugs and issues before then.

StarCraft 2 is a great game to teach gamers about strategy. It’s also a way to study the effects of aging, and it seems like it can also be used as a platform to help raise awareness about politics as well as politics amongst gamers, or at least that’s what Swedish politicians had in mind when they took part in a StarCraft 2 tournament over the weekend.
According to a report from The Daily Dot, the tournament was played for fun and was meant to help “raise awareness about eSports in politics, and politics among gamers.” It’s called “Politikerstarcraft” and was created by Jonathan Rider Lundkvist, a member of the Swedish Pirate Party that was put together in 2006 to help focus on issues like net neutrality, censorship, copyright, and so on.
The game, like we said, was held for fun and it’s actually the second time that such a game has been held. The participants included candidates for local government posts and came from parties like the Left, the Sweden Democrats, the Social Democrats, the Liberals, the Green part, and more. According to NyTeknik, it seems that the Left party won the tournament.
It’s a pretty interesting way to go about politics and if only we could see more disputes and wars resolved over more peaceful means, like in a video game where the only casualty would be the pixels on the screen. What do you guys think of Sweden’s approach to politics?
