Nintendo 3DS update adds Miiverse and Nintendo Network ID support

Nintendo has one of the most popular portable game consoles on the market with the 3DS. Nintendo has been adding new features of the 3DS to make it more appealing to gamers. Earlier this month Nintendo added support for YouTube to the portable console. Nintendo announced that a new update was coming to add more […]

Nintendo Updates 3DS With Miiverse Among Others

Nintendo Updates 3DS With Miiverse Among OthersThe Nintendo 3DS has sold a fair number of consoles, but when you compare it against its predecessor, the Nintendo DS alongside its other variants such as the Nintendo DS Lite, it does not live up to such wild expectations and figures. Still, it is a lovable platform for one to enjoy portable games with, and we were given hints that Nintendo’s Miiverse could eventually wind up on the Nintendo 3DS some time back. Good to know that this is now a reality, as the latest update for the Nintendo 3DS will not only see the Miiverse introduced, it also gets Nintendo Network ID support and a unified eShop wallet for that added level of convenience.

Some would see this to be a huge step when it comes to making sure the fragmented eShop system is unified. After all, console-specific eShops do feature separated digital wallets which can be frustrating at times, especially to those who do not want to manage stuff down to such a macro level. The Miiverse app on the Nintendo 3DS will function in the same manner as that on the Wii U, so hopefully this sense of familiarity will not breed contempt, but rather, make folks happy.

    R4iSDHC Gets Updated Website

R4iSDHC Gets Updated WebsiteI am quite sure that hardcore gamers on the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo DSi and the Nintendo 3DS would have heard of the R4 card as well as its range of variants before. This is one unique card that some say encourages piracy, while others claim that when used for good, would be able to deliver an enhanced gaming experience thanks to homebrew titles and apps. Well, it seems that the R4iSDHC, which is the successor to the hugely popular R4 flashcard, is able to support upgrades every single time, while offering the ability to burn games onto CDs, apart from creating programs that rely on home software and being able to burn audio and video onto CDs.

Anyone owning any of the Nintendo DS family devices who want to take their portable console to the next level might eventually see this to be an indispensable piece of equipment. We have also received word that the R4iSDHC will be getting a new official website, so that end users will be able to receive product upgrades and technical support in a more efficient manner. In fact, those who want the latest kernels can already head on there if they are interested to check out what’s new. [Press Release]

YouTube Finally Lands On The 3DS

    tumblr_ma3s394ojU1qzp9weo3_1280

In case you do not have access to your smartphone, computer, tablet, smart TV, Xbox 360, PS3, Boxee Box, PS Vita or any of the other countless connected devices, you can now watch YouTube on a Nintendo 3DS.

Nearly 2 years after its launch, the 3DS now has a YouTube app. The top screen plays back the video while the bottom serves up touchscreen controls. The shoulder buttons control navigation and the directional pad provides scrolling options. Or, use a stylus to control everything. Essentially, the app performs as expected.

Ironically, the app does not support 3D YouTube videos.

The app is now available through the 3DS eShop in North America and Europe, joining Netflix and Hulu which launched just last month.

(In case it’s not obvious, YouTube is not available on a Game Boy Color, nor does it ship in cartridge form. But these mockups, like the one featured here, are pretty awesome.)

YouTube Makes Its Way Onto The Nintendo 3DS

YouTube Makes Its Way Onto The Nintendo 3DSGood news Nintendo 3DS owners, if you wanted to take a break from gaming and perhaps surf some YouTube to watch some videos or listen to music, you might be pleased to learn that YouTube for the Nintendo 3DS is finally available, and while it might be already obvious, it will not come with support for 3D which we’re not sure is a good or bad thing. YouTube for the Nintendo 3DS joins the likes of Netflix which was released back in 2011, and Hulu which was released for the 3DS just in October a few months ago.

The YouTube app for the 3DS console is available via the Nintendo 3DS eshop for North America and Europe markets. The app will playback videos on the top part of the screen, with the video controllable via the triggers and buttons on your console. It will also display things such as suggested videos, stats, information, and comments on the bottom portion of the console as well.

New Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Trailer Highlights Accolades, Gameplay

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for gamers as not only will the Xbox One be released to the world, but Nintendo fans will be getting some pretty big games. One of which is the Nintendo 3DS-exclusive The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. A Link Between Worlds probably doesn’t need help in gaining the attention of 3DS owners, but just in case, Nintendo released a new trailer for the title showcasing a number of accolades it’s received from various outlets.

Along with the numerous praise The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds has received from reviewers, Nintendo shows off more gameplay footage than you can shake a deku stick at. You’ll see Link battling his way across both Hyrule and Lorule as he alters his body several times throughout the trailer.

The new trailer also shows off a bit of the limited edition The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Nintendo 3DS XL, which we certainly have been drooling over ever since Nintendo announced its existence. Both the game and the Zelda-themed 3DS XL will be available for sale in the U.S. on November 22. If you happen to be attending a midnight launch for the Xbox One, don’t forget to pick either of these up as well!
