An AIO computer might not be the best idea if you’re the type that loves to customize their computers and constantly upgrade it by removing parts and adding new parts in. However if you’re pressed for space or perhaps if you’re not the type of user that loves to meddle with their computer innards, then an AIO is perfect for your everyday use.
If you’re in the market for such a computer, you might be interested to learn that Acer has recently announced a new AIO computer called the Acer Veriton Z2660G. This is the latest AIO computer from acer and as far as specs are concerned, it will come with a 20-inch HD+ display with a maximum resolution of 1600×900 in a 16:9 aspect ratio.
The display itself can be tilted from 8-60 degrees and will also support 10-point capacitive touch technology, for those of you who prefer interacting with Windows 8 via touch. The display itself will also pack a 2MP Full HD webcam that can rotate up to 180 degrees and built-in speakers. Under the hood, users can look forward to an Intel Core i3 processor and will support up to 16GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory and integrated Intel HD 4400 graphics.
The computer will also pack a 500GB hard drive, two USB 2.0 ports, a VGA and DisplayPort that will allow the user to add additional monitors to the setup if they wish. For those who aren’t a fan of Windows 8, rest assured knowing that the computer will be able to dual-boot both Windows 8 Pro and Windows 7 Professional, so if there are some apps that aren’t Windows 8-friendly or if you simply prefer the familiarity of Windows 7, you have that option.
Acer has also announced several features of their own that they will be including, such as eSettings Management that will allow for a more intuitive way to configure and control the system. There’s also a PowerSaver feature that lets users configure their power levels, and also a SmartBoot that will automatically load up frequently used programs in the system tray upon starting up. There’s even a ProShield feature that will help protect your files by either hiding it by or by shredding it virtually/
Priced starting at $779, the Acer Veriton Z2660G AIO computer will be available from resellers and Acer’s channel partners later this month.

Is the demand for the PC starting to slip in the face of smartphones, tablets, and Chromebooks as viable alternatives? Well it would seem so because according to a recent report from the IDC, they have reported that worldwide PC shipments totaled 73.4 million units in the first quarter of 2014. This is actually a 4.4% decline year-on-year which does not bode well for PC manufacturer.
However it seems that despite PC shipments starting to slip, IDC has found that Lenovo is still maintaining their number one position in worldwide PC shipments with shipments in Q1 totalling 12.9 million. They are followed by HP who are pretty close at 12.55 million, followed by Dell which is a pretty distant third at 9.8 million. Acer and ASUS also made the list at fourth and fifth place respectively but it seems even their combined might does not even reach Lenovo’s numbers. (more…)

Wearable technology is definitely a big thing and it has only been growing. In fact this year we’ve seen efforts from LG, Samsung, Motorola, and Sony and we’re still pretty early in the year. What this means is that it is possible that there could be more wearable devices that we’ve yet to see and it’s possible that Acer could be next.
According to recent invites that Acer has handed out, the company will be hosting an event on the 29th of April in New York City. Unfortunately the invite does not mention what Acer could be unveiling, but it does come with a tagline that reads, “Touch, More Connected” which some have taken to mean that Acer could be using that event to unveil new wearables. Android-powered tablets are dime a dozen in the market these days, and there should be a model to suit just about every single need and taste. The thing is, which particular model should you decide to purchase when the time comes? Acer has not exactly been a huge player in this department, but their entry level model has been a decent performer. The $130 Iconia B1-720 was in January earlier this year, and there is a new Acer Iconia One 7 model that is well on its way after passing the rigors of the FCC this week.
