Check out this newly released Full HD monitor from Acer, the S276HLtmjj. Featuring a zero frame design, this new 27-inch IPS LED-backlight monitor supports a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and provides 1000:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m2 brightness, 6ms (GTG) response speed and 178/178 degree viewing angles. In addition, it also comes with two built-in 1.5W stereo speakers and has D-Sub and 2x HDMI connectors. Unfortunately, there’s no word on pricing yet. [Acer]
When it come to Windows Phone handsets, Acer appears to be somewhere on the bench, and sometimes in the field. The company has released several Windows Phone handsets in the past, although we’re not sure what their strategy is because for the most part, Acer’s handsets are rather unassuming and to a certain extent forgettable.
That being said, it seems that Acer is still in talks with Microsoft regarding Windows Phone devices, at least that’s according to an interview that MobileNews had with Acer’s EMEA VP of Smartphones, Allen Burnes. (more…)

A 2-in-1 computer might sound like a real technological achievement, but it is nothing new these days, considering how many companies have started to roll out multi-mode machines. Take Lenovo’s Yoga range for instance, where these are able to function as a standard laptop, fold it all the way to the back to be a tablet, or leave it standing in a tent mode. Acer wants in on the multiple-in-one bandwagon too, with word that the upcoming Acer Aspire Switch 10 will feature three different modes for you to work with.

This ultra-sharp 27-inch LED-backlight monitor supports a native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and provides 100,000,000:1 maximum contrast ratio, 16:9 aspect ratio and 178/178 degree viewing angles. Which comes first – the chicken or the egg? This is the very same situation that many software developers and hardware manufacturers ponder over. Software developers say that they would like to see a platform increase its market share before they are able to throw their lot into it, while hardware manufacturers claim that unless software developers back their hardware right from the get go without looking at the user base figures, it would be difficult for people to adopt the hardware in the first place. Well, Acer is somewhat placed in such a position, as their VP of Smartphones, Allen Burnes, mentioned that the company would like to see Windows Phone market share grow before they take the plunge into the Windows Phone platform.

When it comes to smartphones, Acer is definitely not a name that comes to mind. After all the Taiwanese company hasn’t really made that big of a dent in the smartphone market and are probably better known for their computers. That hasn’t stopped the company from trying and for MWC 2014, it looks like Acer has announced the Liquid E3 and the Liquid Z4, both of which appear to sport some pretty low-mid ranged specs, which also means that both handsets will be easy on your pockets. MWC 2014 or Mobile World Congress 2014 is just around the corner. It kicks off on February 24th in Barcelona, Spain. One of the biggest industry conferences of the year, a lot of companies are expected to unveil new devices. The Korean juggernaut is expected to launch its next generation flagship, Galaxy S5, here, whereas HTC is also rumored to finally unveil the M8. Acer doesn’t want to be left out of the fray, and the company’s teaser has us believing that the Acer 2014 announcement will lift the wraps off of new products.
