Acer C720P Is Their Latest Touchscreen Chromebook Priced At $299

The Chromebook market has certainly been heating up with Acer recently announcing they’d be offering a Haswell-equipped laptop that only costs consumers $200. It seems Acer isn’t done shocking the world with its Chromebook products as they’re announcing a new touchscreen Chromebook, the Acer C720P.  (more…)

Acer’s first touchscreen Chromebook arrives next month for $299

If you’d rather get hands-on with your Chromebook work sessions, Acer is looking to lend a hand. The company has outed the C720P: its first touchscreen Chromebook, and the first we’ve seen outside of Google’s own Chromebook Pixel — something that we’ve been expecting ever since more touch-enabled features showed up in stable Chrome OS builds. The Google-fied laptop sports an 11.6-inch HD LED display with 1,366 x 768 resolution alongside an Intel Celeron 2955U processor, 32GB SSD and 2GB DDR3 RAM. Weighing in at only 2.98 pounds and measuring 0.78 inch thick, the C720P claims up to 7.5 hours of battery life — an hour less than its Haswell-powered sibling, the C720. There’s both USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, an HDMI jack, SD card slot and two years worth of 100GB Google Drive space for extra storage. Sound too good to pass up? Well, you’ll be able to snag one in early December for $299 — far less than the $1,299 Pixel — from Amazon, Best Buy and the Acer store. %Gallery-slideshow123362%

Acer C720P Chromebook adds touch at fraction of Google Pixel

Acer has added touch to its C720 Chromebook, creating the $200 Acer C720P Chromebook, an affordable 11.6-inch alternative to Google’s well-reviewed but expensive Pixel. The new C720P adds a 1366 x 768 touchscreen display to the C720, with Intel’s Celeron 2955U Haswell processor under the hood, and the promise of up to 7.5 hours of […]

Acer founder takes CEO and Corporate President seat without salary

Due to the less-than-stellar state of affairs in selling computers at Acer as of late, both the CEO and the Corporate President of the company have stepped down from their respective positions. To replace them, the board has elected the company’s founder Stan Shih as both CEO and Corporate President all rolled into one. This […]

Acer Aspire R7 newly-integrated digitizer adds to the oddity for the USA

Today the folks at Acer have taken the notebook with the Ezel-Hinge (the one that makes it look like the Enterprise from Star Trek) and have given it a reboot with an integrated digitizer. This piece of technology makes the machine able to work with an optional Acer active stylus, adding to the already above-and-beyond […]

Acer’s next CEO steps down before even starting, as retired founder takes over

It’s all change at Acer at the moment. Just 15 days after CEO and Chairman JT Wang stepped down, the man set to replace him, Jim Wong, has also left the business. The changes come after Acer posted a huge loss and wrote-off value from sub-brands Gateway and Packard Bell, apparently sealing the fate of the executives. In the wake of the news, founder Stan Shih will come out of retirement and assume the role of chairman and interim president “without salary,” with co-founder George Huang joining the new-look old-school management team. Following today’s reshuffle, Shih will have to make day-to-day decisions for the company. While Wang and Wong may have taken the blame for Acer’s recent poor performance, both will hang around “to ensure a smooth transition.”

Acer unveils $200 Haswell-based Chromebook for the extra-thrifty

    Acer C720 Chromebook with Haswell

Acer gave its Chromebook line a welcome tune-up when it launched the Haswell-based C720, but the $250 starting price was no doubt disappointing to those who wanted the C7’s $200 entry point. The company is accommodating those spendthrifts today with its $200 C720-2848 variant. The only sacrifice is a lower 2GB of RAM; owners still get a 1.4GHz Celeron processor, a 16GB solid-state drive and that vaunted 8.5 hours of battery life. Should you want to save a cool $50, or are just frustrated that you can’t buy a Chromebook 11, you can pick up the new C720 today from Amazon or Best Buy.

Acer C720-2848 Chromebook bucks the upward trend

With the Acer C720-2848 the company has decided to cut the line, so to speak, making the device which appears the same as the earlier model cost just a bit less due to changes to its innards. What you’ve got here is a $199.99 model of the C720, this version working with the same Intel […]
