There might be a tiny bit of upheaval up at the peaks of Nokia management today, but that doesn’t mean we all need to stand around looking serious and forecasting who’ll leverage what synergies in order to actuate the requisite paradigmatic shift in the company’s device portfolio. No, we’re much more inclined to go check out a new ad video that show off the mods and hacks Nokia users have put together with their handsets. It’s quite the breathless run-through, this ad, but if you’re careful you’ll spot a few of your old favorites used in quirky new ways. March past the break for a gander.

Logitech’s ‘Lonely TV Part 3’ Google TV ad pulled, Part 4 steps up to the plate

After Part 3 of Logitech’s Lonely TV ad campaign (pictured above) didn’t get quite the reception the company probably intended, GTVHub points out the video has disappeared from YouTube and quickly been replaced by Part 4 in the series. Both are embedded after the break so you can judge for yourself, but Part 4 (along with Parts 1 & 2) seems to do a better job of representing an Aaahh!!! Real Monsters mischievous entity than the Grape You In The Mouth! feel of Part 3. Of course, we’d just like to get out of the ad critic business and get some more Revue with Google TV hands-on time — anyone who remembers Nilay’s tale of woe from podcast 197 knows that IR blasters are an even scarier prospect than anthropomorphized HDTVs suddenly appearing in our bed.

Logitech’s ‘Lonely TV’ Revue with Google TV ad may be sending the wrong message

Logitech’s promoting its Revue with Google TV box in a new “Lonely TV” series of advertisements, but while they’re suggesting the relationship between internet, TV and you should be closer this latest spot only makes us want to search for a restraining order. In light of concerns some have about online privacy and exactly how much information Google is revealing about our habits, maybe a giant screen with an eyeball on it sending a teenaged girl into a panic (and not the Bieber fever) is the wrong mascot. Sony takes aim at iPhone gaming in new PSP ad

Well, it looks like Nintendo isn’t the only gaming company that thinks Apple is the “enemy of the future” — Sony has now also taken aim at iPhone gaming in a new PSP ad featuring Kevin Butler‘s pint-sized counterpart, Marcus Rivers. In it, Marcus reminds viewers that the iPhone is built for things like “texting your grandma and calling your girl,” while the PSP is “built for big boy games,” some of which can be had for as little as $9.99. Best Buy pegs Droid 2 at $199 with 2-year activation, $599 without (updated)

It’s rather astounding to believe we’ve come this far without Verizon or Motorola so much as recognizing the Droid 2’s existence, but with leaks like this on a weekly basis who needs traditional marketing? Astute reader Greg from North Carolina tells us his local Best Buy has those leaked dummy units out on shelves, and lo and behold, there’s a set of price tags right next to them. As originally rumored, the phone will launch at $199 with carrier subsidy and $599 should you choose to cart it home without a plan in tow. Still no solid confirmation of that August 12 release date, but at this rate we expect the handset may sell out before Verizon’s PR team breathes a word. Spot the full image after the break.

Update: On a related note, the original Droid is now “out of stock” on Verizon’s website.

Update 2: Oh what the hell, dropped in an official “coming soon” Droid 2 advertising supplement making its way into newspapers.

Motorola takes another shot at the iPhone 4, says Droid X is ‘no jacket required’

Well this is getting good. Motorola was one of the first to take a subtle swipe at Apple’s iPhone 4 antenna dilemma with an ad saying you could hold the Droid X “any way you like,” Apple came right back with a video purportedly showing the Droid X suffering similar attenuation issues when held in the right hand, and now Moto’s responded with this cheeky ad that plays off Apple’s free iPhone case solution by saying the Droid X can make calls “without a bulky phone jacket.” Yeah, it’s pretty good — particularly because unlike most other phones, we haven’t been able to death grip the Droid X with any noticeable effect on 3G reception. (Although, truth be told, we can drop the WiFi signal by a few bars pretty easily.) Samsung dispatching free Galaxy S handsets to iPhone 4 whiners on Twitter?

Well this is one lucky Tiffany here, but she’s not alone. Wired UK was first to report that Samsung’s been quietly dishing out free Galaxy S handsets (the European flavor) to a few lucky British Twitter users. How so? Oh, four of them just made a fuss about their iPhone 4s, and the fifth guy needed help to choose between the Desire, iPhone 4 and Galaxy S. Before you all start tweeting your way to a free Android phone, though, it looks like the Korean giant’s only picking certain influencers for some cheap publicity — turns out our Tiffany here works in Digital Marketing for Condé Nast, which is coincidentally Wired’s parent company. Tut tut tut. The other tweeples all appear to be similarly involved in marketing or publishing, with the exception of one student.

As if it hasn’t already rubbed enough salt into Apple’s wound, Samsung UK’s also running new Galaxy S ads that take an indirect shot at the iPhone 4’s antenna controversy with a clever bit of typography — you can see the dirty work after the break. Very nice, Sammy, but you better be careful playing with fire here, as we’ve found it pretty easy to death grip Galaxy S phones like the Captivate into losing a fair bit of signal.

Toshiba reneges on promise of free laptops and TVs if Spain win World Cup

Buy a Core i5 laptop or a Toshiba TV, and if your country wins the World Cup Final, we’ll refund your money. Simple and to the point, don’t you think? Toshiba ran this advertising campaign in Germany, England, Portugal, Italy and Spain in the run-up to the global football tournament, but now that one of those nations has actually gone and scooped the silverware, refunds seem remarkably hard to come by. As it turns out, the small print on that ad included instructions to see Toshiba’s site for further details, which elucidated a requirement that all claimants must register their product by the 17th of June. Naturally, that’s now led to a whole heap of peeved Spaniards feeling cheated, and big time consumer association Facua arguing that such a major condition to recovering your cash shouldn’t have been hidden away online. In the absence of it being clearly marked on the promotional materials, it argues, Toshiba should honor everyone’s receipts irrespective of registration. We’re inclined to agree — maybe the Japanese company can recover any losses from the wages of its cheeky advertising staff.
