    Alcatel OneTouch POP C9 Announced

Alcatel OneTouch POP C9 Announced[CES 2014] The folks over at Alcatel has revealed yet another smartphone that will join their ranks, where it will come in the form of the Alcatel OneTouch POP C9. This is the largest Android-powered smartphone from Alcatel at the moment where the POP series is concerned, with the smallest member of the family being the POP C1 that has a small 3.5” display, while the largest model is the POP C9 which carries a 5.5” display. All in all, Alcatel intends to offer large screen goodness alongside a quad-core processor without breaking the bank.

Just what can we find underneath the hood of the OneTouch POP C9? Well, for starters, this is a colorful plastic device that will arrive in a shade of colors (Bluish Black, Cherry Red, Full White, Hot Pink or Fresh Turquoise) and at first glance, we would not fault you for thinking that it looks a whole lot like the Samsung Galaxy S3. Yes sir, a generation and a half (since the Galaxy S5 is about to be unveiled later this year) behind in terms of looks, but I guess that is the “price” that you pay if you want the best bang for your buck. Forget about Full HD resolution here, as the POP C9’s 5.5” LCD IPS display has a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. This results in a pixel density of just 200ppi. Other than that, you will find a quad-core 1.3GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera at the back that does Full HD video recording, a 2-megapixel shooter up front, and a 2,500mAh battery. Alcatel’s Idol X+ And BOOMBand Announced In China

Alcatels Idol X+ And BOOMBand Announced In ChinaIn the past we have seen Alcatel release smartphones although they might not necessarily be the name one thinks of when it comes to smartphones. However recently we have seen leaks of Alcatel’s alleged upcoming Idol X+ handset and the good news is that the handset is now official and even comes with an companion accessory known as the BOOMBand. As far as specs are concerned, the newly announced Alcatel Idol X+ device will sport a 5” Full HD 1080p display. It will also pack 2GB of RAM, a 2GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor, 16GB of onboard storage, a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 2,500mAh battery, and will measure 7.9mm thin with a bezel 1.9mm thin.

It sounds like a pretty decent device and is expected to be made available in the Chinese market come 15th January 2014 for around $330. As far as the BOOMBand is concerned, it’s not exactly a smartwatch but it is a wearable Bluetooth device that Alcatel states will be able to track for activity as well as to ensure that you do not leave your phone behind, presumably by alerting the user once they are out of Bluetooth range. We’re not sure if Alcatel has plans to eventually bring the Idol X+ handset to other countries, but perhaps we might learn more in the future.

Try Out Web Store Apps Without Any Installation

Try Out Web Store Apps Without Any InstallationIt is every intention of any parent to want to see their little one grow up and succeed in life, and I guess that the same can be said for any software or hardware company to see their apps and devices be hugely successful on the market. Well, Google for one, has every intention to see Chrome apps fly, and the Internet search giant has done its fair bit in the past by throwing in better notifications, in-app payments for that added touch of convenience, and an app launcher in the browser, among others. The latest which we have heard is this – Google is looking to work on a way for the curious to try out Web Store apps without the need for any installation.

A couple of separate components are involved here, where ephemeral apps would allow you to give a Chrome app a go prior to installation, while linkable ephemeral apps would let you launch those apps directly from a hyperlink, now how about that? This would certainly make life a whole lot easier for those who do not want to go through messy installation procedures for sure. After all, only if you really want that particular app badly after giving it a go, do you go right ahead and install it for sure.
