How Much of Your Shopping Is Done on Amazon?

If you live in a big city without a car, it’s probably easier to just do all your shopping on Amazon. Amazon Set-Top Box Release Reportedly Delayed

Amazon Set Top Box Release Reportedly Delayed

Earlier this month we started hearing rumors once again that Amazon has a set-top box up its sleeve, one that may provide tough competition to the likes of Roku and Apple TV. Amazon itself hasn’t confirmed whether or not it is working on such a device, so there’s no official indication from the company regarding the release of its first ever set-top box. Though the release of this device has apparently been delayed, it is said to have been pushed beyond the coveted holiday season. Amazon was reportedly pushing to launch its set-top box around the holidays this year.

The Amazon set-top box will reportedly run on an Android fork, the kind you’ll find on its Kindle Fire tablets. Though it is believed that Amazon might open up this device for third party applications. Apart from this, the set-top box is also likely to have access to Amazon’s collection of Prime videos. It has also been rumored that this device may launch with various movies, games and music streaming apps to provide a richer user experience. Amazon hasn’t officially confirmed the moniker, but it recently filed to trademark ‘Firetube’ in the U.S. and Canada. It is strongly believed to be the moniker that Amazon attaches with its set-top box. Reasons for this delay in its release are not entirely clear. There’s also no word as yet on the pricing, though if Amazon’s history of competitively pricing its products is taken into account, then this set-top box might just give its competitors a run for their money.

Amazon Takes A Swing At Apple’s New iPad Air

Amazon Takes A Swing At Apples New iPad AirApple officially announced the iPad Air at yesterday’s event and while the tablet is thinner, it is relatively heavy at 1 pound, at least when compared to other tablets such as Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX which weighs in slightly less at 0.82 pounds, although in all fairness the tablet is smaller compared to Apple’s recently announced tablet. However that has not stopped the company from taking a swing at Apple’s recent announcement by releasing an ad (pictured above) where the tagline reads, “Lighter than Air”, which we can only assume is referring to Apple’s iPad Air.

While it’s hardly a fair comparison, given that hardware and operating system of either tablet is different, we guess it’s still pretty clever. Amazon’s has had a pretty decent amount of success with their Kindle Fire Android tablets and we expect that success to continue with the Kindle Fire HDX, but at the same time it would be interesting to see what sort of numbers both Amazon and Apple will release regarding the sales of either tablet, but what do you guys think? Will Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX beat out Apple’s iPad Air?

Kindle Fire HDX Blue Tint Is Normal

Kindle Fire HDX Blue Tint Is NormalSo, the Kindle Fire HDX from Amazon has begun to ship as we announced just a few days back. If you happened to have picked up one of these puppies for yourself then, have you noticed as to why the display on your brand new Kindle Fire HDX comes with a somewhat bluish tint around the edges? Is it a defect? Did you think to yourself, that after having spent good money on a new high end tablet, it ends up like a love story gone bad? Fret not, that bluish tint has been described to be normal.

Apparently, it was part of an effort to achieve the vaunted color accuracy for the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX that saw Amazon make use of blue LEDs in order to light the display. Hence, the result of including that bit of hardware would be why there is an azure hue that makes its way around the display’s sides, especially on books and web sites. Apart from that, Amazon also claims that such lighting technique is good for your device’s battery, since it is touted to increase battery life by up to 20 percent. Will this particular tinge of blue turn you off from making a positive purchase decision?
