Lovefilm UK supplements kids' content with films and TV from NBCUniversal

Last week, Lovefilm snapped up some additional content of the cultured kindMan v. Food withstanding — for adults to enjoy. The streaming service is kicking off this week by adding yet more films and TV shows for the kids. Subscribers will now find child-friendly material from NBCUniversal in the Lovefilm library, such as the shows Curious George, Barbie: Princess Charm School, Rastamouse and The Land Before Time (parents might remember the films). Given it’s the summer holidays, your offspring are probably out enjoying the weather, but having something fresh to put on the tellybox might help keep them quiet come that inevitable rainy day.

After a U.S. District Court judged found Apple guilty of colluding with book publishers to fix the prices of e-books last month, it was unclear what the actual consequences would be for the iPad-maker. Amazon Collections: like Pinterest, only for stuff Amazon sells

DNP Amazon Collections puts Pinterest in its crosshairs

Amazon has just introduced Amazon Collections, and it appears to go up directly against Pinterest. Indeed, the look and feel of the site is eerily similar to that of the pinning service. Just like Pinterest, Collections lets you gather images of your favorite Amazon products and display them in different lists — sort of like a visual version of a wish list, if you will. Users start out with default topics like “My Style,” “Want List” and “Possibilities,” which they can modify and add on to if they wish. Also like Pinterest, users can find and follow those with similar interests, and they can “heart” or add listed items to their own Collections. With Pinterest moving in on the e-commerce space as well, it looks like the digital pinboard space just got a whole lot more competitive.

Kurt Vonnegut’s work joins Kindle Worlds, Kilgore Trouts rejoice

Kurt Vonnegut's work joins Kindle Worlds fan fic program, Kilgore Trouts rejoice

Kindle Worlds has become unstuck in time. Amazon announced this morning that it has wrangled a license for Kurt Vonnegut’s work, bringing Cat’s Cradle, Breakfast of Champions and the like to the world of paid fan fiction. One rep from the author’s trust called the deal a “natural extension of his legacy and a testament to the enduring popularity of his characters and stories.” At the very least, it marks a turn toward more classic literature (and, arguably, legitimacy) for a program that thus far includes the likes of Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries. And certainly Vonnegut’s vast catalog offers plenty of fodder for the prospective novelist, * and all.

BBC Sport app comes to Kindle Fire, now lets you filter out Chelsea news

BBC Sport app comes to Kindle Fire, now lets you filter out Chelsea news

iOS users already had access to the BBC Sport app’s customizable “quick links” feature, which provides more direct access to favorite sports, but an update has just taken the idea a bit further. Quick links now work across Android and the freshly-minted Kindle Fire version too, and they additionally allow you to filter news according to which football club(s) you want to follow and which bits of multi-million-pound transfer gossip you’d rather just ignore. Other, more general improvements include refreshed indexes for a total of 41 different sports and greater prominence given to major tournaments like Formula 1 and the Ashes. If you want to check out the app on a Kindle Fire or Fire HD, you’ll need to be in the UK — an international version is still in the works and will be “available soon.” There’s a hat-trick of relevant download links below.

Zelda Wind Waker HD Has New Difficulty Mode, Says Amazon

Zelda Wind Waker HD Has New Difficulty Mode, Says AmazonRight at the beginning of this year, we managed to get word that the highly acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker game that proved to be one of the Nintendo GameCube’s enduring games would be getting a remake, where this particular remake would be headed for the Nintendo Wii U and will carry the title The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for obvious reasons – and also to keep up with the times, I suppose. Well, the folks over at Amazon did share that The Wind Waker HD will come with a new difficulty mode, so it is not going to be a walk in the park even for seasoned Zelda fans.

Of course, I am quite sure that even for those who have completed The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker numerous times over on the Nintendo GameCube in the past, picking up the HD remake for the Wii U would still be worthwhile, since it looks great in the new and enhanced graphics, while there is also the Tingle Bottle feature that enables players to send Miiverse messages in bottles which will eventually wash up on shore. Well, we will just have to wait until this October for The Wind Waker HD to arrive on the Wii U and find out just how tough the new difficulty level is.
