How would you change Dell’s Venue?

Sure, it’s lacking the Pro moniker, but it’s also lacking a built-in keyboard. A fair trade, we suppose. Dell’s Venue is actually nothing at all like the once-titled Lightning, boasting a slate-style form factor and Android 2.2 in place of Windows Phone 7. To this day, it remains one of the few unlocked phones available for sale in the US with support for AT&T’s 3G bands, and for those who missed out on the Nexus One (or just opted for this for any number of other reasons), we’re curious to see how your experience with the Thunder has been. Were you impressed / let down by the Stage UI? How’d you manage the heft? Would you have tweaked the build materials any? Opted for WP7 over Froyo? Kept the Thunder name? We’re guessing that Dell’s still squarely in the learning phase when it comes to handset making, so go ahead and get real honest in comments below. Honestly.

Enzo’s Pinball gets you all touchy-feely with your phone

We got a hands-on sample of Haptify’s haptic-powered apps a couple months back and came away intrigued, but yearning for more. Well, the company is finally ready to sate our penchant for playtime physicality with its first game, Enzo’s Pinball. The game debuts with three tables (“more coming soon”), and is designed to let you feel every bump, rattle, and ricochet as if it were the real thing. It isn’t identical to its tangible counterpart, but it is an upgrade over the rumble-free digital competition. Haptify’s haptic black magic works with handsets running Android 2.1 and up, so there’s an awful lot of potential pinball wizards out there. You can grab the game in the Android Market and it’ll cost $1.49 to give in to your tactile desires.

T-Mobile G2x shows up on eBay with $799 price tag, tests your bartering skills (update: sold!)

We already knew that T-Mobile’s dual-core G2x won’t be arriving for another week, but it looks like some cheeky monkey managed to nab one early and promptly put it up on eBay. While the seller hasn’t posted photos of the actual handset, all the signs suggest that at least this sealed box is legit, especially the label on the back. If you’re willing to take the risk, then this Tegra 2 Froyo Android could be yours early for a cool $799, or maybe a bit less if you could work your magic on that “Make Offer” button.

Update: And it’s gone. Looks like someone really wanted this phone.

Samsung confirms WiFi-only Galaxy Tab availability: April 10th, $350

We’ve already seen it turn up on a few retail sites, but Samsung has now finally officially confirmed the launch details for its WiFi-only Galaxy Tab. It will be available online and at retail stores across the US on April 10th for $349.99. Specs otherwise remain the same as the 3G version, including a 7-inch 1024 x 600 display, 32GB of internal storage (with a microSD card slot for up to an additional 32GB), rear and front-facing cameras, and Android 2.2 with support for Flash 10.1 — from the looks of things, it’s also only available with a white back. Full press release is after the break.

T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide gets PC-assisted Froyo update

Gingerbread may not be a very likely option, but T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide users can now get a dessert of another sort (albeit a slightly stale one), as the phone has finally received an update to Android 2.2 (a.k.a. Froyo). Unfortunately, there’s apparently no over-the-air update planned, and the software required for the installation is Windows-only, so anyone with a Mac looking to upgrade will have to find a PC-using friend willing to help them out. If you’re all set to go, however, you can download the update from HTC at the source link below.

[Thanks, Frenchy]

HP’s Zeen tablet gets Android 2.2 Froyo update, finally (video)

If you decided to throw good judgement out the window and buy an HP Photosmart eStation just for the tablet, let us start by saying we told you so. Now that we have that squared away, it looks like there could be hope for HP’s Android-powered slate yet — reports are starting to roll in of a long awaited Android 2.2 update for the Zeen. For months, owners of the tablet have filled HP customer service forums with complaints about the promised, but never delivered update, but as you can see from the video below, Zeen owners can now download a beta version of Froyo complete with Flash-compatibility, and from what we’ve heard, it’s a huge improvement. If you must see it for yourself, check out the video after the break, but let us issue yet another warning: the audio in this video will creep you out.

[Thanks, Zac]

World’s first GLONASS-enabled smartphone ships in Russia, GPS ponders a recalculation

Well, would you look at that? The planet’s first GLONASS phone is now available, but it looks as if you’ll need to soar over to Russia in order to use it. Of course, if you’ve followed the GLONASS story at all you wouldn’t find that shocking in the least, and if you choose to pick up the ZTE-built MTS GLONASS 945 on your next trip, you’ll be treated to full-on GPS support back in the States. It’s a Froyo-based device with a 3.2-inch capacitive touchpanel, 2 megapixel camera, 130MB of memory, Bluetooth / WiFi and a price tag of just under 11,000 Rubles. That’s around $400 in real money, which you’ll probably find suits you best in your wallet if you’ve already picked up the all-too-similar Vodafone 945. Here’s hoping the world’s second GLONASS phone is a bit more compelling in the design and feature standpoint, yeah?

RadioShack to get T-Mobile Sidekick 4G on April 20th

While T-Mobile’s staying coy about the Sidekick 4G’s availability, RadioShack went ahead and gave us the final piece of the puzzle: according to one of its latest tweets, said Android phone is heading to the Shack on April 20th. Oh yes, this just so happens to be the rumored date for the G-Slate and G2X as well. Coincidence? Only time will tell, and let’s hope that this doesn’t end up being an April Fool’s joke — well, at least the Shack would have something to blame if it actually misheard the information over the phone.

Sprint dropping Galaxy Tab to $200 on contract starting April 3rd

An early prank this isn’t. Based on our sources (and the pictorial evidence above), Sprint’s fixing to whack a full Benjamin from the current $299.99 asking price on its Samsung Galaxy Tab starting on Sunday, making it one of the more affordable ways to get your hands on a 3G-enabled tablet of any kind — let alone a Froyo-based slate that’s received its fair share of compliments. Granted, the original Tab is aging at this point, and we still aren’t sure we’d be down for selling our cellular soul for two years just to get a spiffy up-front discount, but hey — at least you know the option awaits you. Oh, and if spending $429.99 sounds a lot better than $199.99 in addition to 24 months of obligation, that’ll apparently also be possible.

[Thanks, Anonymous]
