Canadians, you must chafe under the yoke of a Gingerbread-free existence no longer, for the Nexus S is coming to the Great White North sometime in March. According to Mobilicity CEO Dave Dobbin, the handset will be available on the company’s AWS band, but he also said that Bell, Telus, and Rogers will carry the Nexus S as well. If true, that means Samsung will be providing another model of the phone with support for WCDMA 850 / 1900 for it to work with Canada’s big three wireless providers. We can only hope that’s the case, as said model would be usable on AT&T’s network — making an awful lot of us living south of Canada quite happy. Remember those eccentric ASUS Android tablets at CES? Yeah, it’s all a bit of a blur for us as well, but turns out both the Eee Pad Transformer and Slider prototypes just made it to the BETT (British Educational Training and Technology) Show in London this morning, so we decided to wander along to get our hands dirty again. Sadly, the Transformer had a bit of a rough ride from Vegas and remained dormant, but we were still able to admire its sturdy keyboard dock with great key press travel. And in case you’ve forgotten, said dock is also an external battery that doubles the juice up to 16 hours. UK shoppers will see this slate popping up in the stores around May or June for £379 ($597), and its docking kit for £100 ($158).

We were more fortunate with the functioning Slider prototype, even though it had the same sliding issue we saw at CES. But fear not, as we were told that the engineers are already reworking the mechanism, and here’s hoping that they’ll do something about the flexing keyboard as well. As for software, we didn’t have time to test everything, but we were surprised by the general snappiness of the current Froyo test build. And speaking of which, we’re not too sure what the plan is with ASUS’ Android roadmap — even though we were told at CES that Honeycomb will be on these tablets at launch, the folks we met today said that they’ll be shipped with Gingerbread instead; and even then, there’s no time frame for the 3.0 upgrade just yet. Anyhow, this is less of a concern for the Slider given its July or August launch, but it’ll cost you a hefty £429 ($676).

Additionally, both tablets will see their 3G variants in the UK a quarter after their respective launches, but regardless, it’s never too soon to start a petition for your carrier to spread the ASUS tablet fever.

Android tablets aren’t exactly in short supply at CES 2011, but the Enspert Identity Tab stands out — despite hailing from a manufacturer we’d never heard of before the show. Enspert’s got two slick 7-inch slates on the floor, and while the E201 mostly cribs from Samsung’s WiFi-only Galaxy Tab — right down to a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird chip — the flagship Enspert E301 pumps up the pixel density with a 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen, adds an all-metal case, a mobile DTV antenna, and 3G connectivity. We poked and prodded these tablets all over and got a peek at the full spec sheets, so after you peruse our gallery below, hit the break for details!

To say Motorola’s Xoom had a coming-out party at CES would be understating things greatly. It was easily one of the highlights of the show, and the potential that was shown was obviously just part of the story. According to Moto’s developer page, there’s actually a barometer included, right alongside an accelerometer, magnetometer, ambient light sensor and gyroscope. Oddly enough, a proximity sensor is left out of the mix, but seriously… a barometer? Truth be told, this is actually just an oft overlooked point that was first shown in VZW / Motorola’s joint press release, but it’s good to know that at least one flagship slate will be compatible with Android 2.3’s barometer support. Here’s hoping it’ll be useful for helping you sidestep ugly weather patterns, or something of the sort.

Whatever eLocity can do… Velocity Micro can do better? Maybe! The aforesaid company has just revealed a trio of new tablets: the 7-inch Cruz Tablet L37, the 8-inch Cruz Tablet P38 and the 10.1-inch Cruz Tablet L510. From smallest to largest, the L37 is equipped with a 1024 x 600 capacitive touchpanel, 802.11n WiFi, 4GB of internal memory, front / rear-facing cameras, optional 3G, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 and a micro-HDMI out port. The P38 is effectively the same, but it relies on a 1024 x 768 resolution display. The L510, as the resident Big Boy in the bunch, gets equipped with a 1366 x 768 resolution display, NVIDIA’s Tegra 250 chipset and a 1GHz dual-core CPU. The whole lot is expected to ship with Amazon’s Kindle app pre-installed, and Android 2.2 or 2.3 will be running the show. There’s no mention of exactly when these guys will be out and about, nor how much each will cost, but you can catch the full release just past the break.
