Sometimes new versions of the Android operating system can be slow to roll out to users. Android Jelly Bean Now On Over 52% Of Android Devices

Android Jelly Bean Now On Over 52% Of Android DevicesGoogle’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean was the latest build of Android prior to the release of Android 4.4 KitKat, and for those who still use Android’s fragmentation as a point of argument to denounce Android’s merits, you might want to think twice. According to the latest figures published by Google, it shows that adoption of the Jelly Bean update now accounts for over 52% of all Android devices out there. Of course given that there are multiple Android Jelly Bean builds, such as Android 4.1.x Jelly Bean, Android 4.2.x Jelly Bean, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, there is still some fragmentation, but still a vast improvement from before.

Interestingly enough it seems that Froyo is still around and still holds a larger share of the Android pie compared to Honeycomb which was originally designed for tablets in mind. Gingerbread is still the second largest percentage at 26.3%, followed by Android Ice Cream Sandwich at 19.8%. It would almost seem that with every iteration of Android released, Google and their partners are doing a much better job at rolling out the latest updates to their users in a timely manner, so it would definitely be interesting to see Android 4.4 KitKat’s adoption rate in the future. What do you guys think? Will KitKat have the same success enjoyed by Jelly Bean?
