Mercedes Benz To Add Android Support When Googles Car Infotainment System Is ReadySo yesterday Apple announced CarPlay, a feature in which iOS would basically be integrated into vehicles. Some of the car companies that would be part of the program included Ferrari, Mercedes, and Volvo, which would later be followed up by other companies such as BMW, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, and more.

Now interestingly enough it seems that some of the Apple’s partners will be sticking to CarPlay, Mercedes-Benz will not be using CarPlay exclusively. Instead Mercedes-Benz will also offer up Google’s own in-car infotainment system once the feature has been made available. This is according to a recent press release by Mercedes-Benz where they revealed their Android plans as well. (more…)

    Android Tablets Collectively Outsold The iPad In 2013When it comes to tablets, Apple’s series of iPads have long reigned supreme, but it looks like that reign has come to an end, that’s if you were to follow Gartner’s recent stats which has shown that Android tablets have finally managed to overtake the iPad in terms of sales.

    According to the recently released figures which are based on worldwide sales, they have shown that out of the 195 million tablets sold in 2013, Android tablets have managed to account for 61.9% of all those sales, versus the iPad which only account for around 36%. The remaining percentage goes to Microsoft with 2.1%, and “others” that are below 0.1%. (more…)

    Nokia Discourages Developers To Copy UI Elements From Other PlatformsIf there is one feature that Windows Phone is known for, it would be its unique user interface which relies on tiles to provide users with information at a glance. It is pretty clever, unique, and actually pretty neat in terms of layout.

    In fact Nokia’s X series of Android handsets appear to be running a forked version of Android that sports a Metro-ish UI, but interestingly enough it seems that Nokia does not want Android developers to copy that layout, which we guess is to help reduce confusion between Android and Windows Phone for the less tech savvy out there.
