Cricket intros the Samsung Vitality, the first Android to offer Muve Music

If executed properly, Muve Music could be a pretty nifty idea. But up until now, the all-you-can download music service from Cricket Wireless has been offered on the Samsung Suede featurephone… and that’s it. Fortunately, the Samsung Vitality will come to the rescue as the prepaid carrier’s first smartphone to provide the beats. We’ve seen this device before as the Admire, which runs on Android 2.3, has a 3.5-inch HVGA (480 x 320) display and is powered by an 800MHz CPU. The phone also includes a 3.2 megapixel cam, 1,600mAh battery and a 4GB microSD card. It may not sound all that tempting, but the price could turn a few heads: the Vitality will be available for $200 — that’s sans contract, folks — and requires a $65 plan which will hook you up with unlimited data, voice and music. Synrgic preps its T100 handset for the beast phone race

Synrgic may not be a brand name that resonates with mobile-obsessed statesiders, but that’s no reason to shrug off the nascent electronics maker’s efforts. Known primarily for its tablet PCs in China, the company is purportedly gearing up for a launch of its first ever smartphone — the T100. According to a leaked shot over on Chinitech, the handset’ll pack a spec list that runs neck and neck with the heavy hitting phones we’ve seen flood the global marketplace. Sporting a 4.3-inch 960 x 540 display, the device runs an undisclosed version of Gingerbread on a dual-core 1.2GHz Tegra 2 processor, packs 1GB RAM, up to 32GB of internal storage (due to an omitted microSD card slot), and 1.3 megapixel front-facing / 5 megapixel rear camera set-up capable of 720p video capture. There’s also an HDMI and USB port, ample 1500mAh battery, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G GSM / WCDMA frequencies on board. If the gossip is to be believed, this phone’ll touch down on retailers’ shelves sometime in October or November — perhaps in time for an Ice Cream Sandwich.

Smart Bar from eAccess combines Gingerbread with traditional numpad for old-school enthusiasts

Well, you don’t see this too often. A new phone dubbed the Smart Bar is set for sale in Japan on September 22nd that combines the retro styling of a candybar with a modern 3-inch touchscreen. We’re undeniably intrigued by the numerical keypad (for obvious reasons), and the WVGA display sports an admirable pixel density of 311ppi, although the rest of the specs are decidedly mundane. The handset is manufactured by Huawei and features an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 SoC, 512MB of RAM, a 5 megapixel camera and Gingerbread. There’s also support for 802.11n (which allows tethering for up to five simultaneous devices), Bluetooth 2.1 and IrDA. It features 3G support on the 2100 and 1700MHz spectra, along with tri-band 1900 / 1800 / 900MHz GSM capability. The Smart Bar will sell for approximately ¥29,800 ($385), where fans of vintage fusion may select from black, white and brown variants.

LG Optimus Note slider emerges from South Korea as dual-core Tegra 2 contender

Samsung certainly had its moment in the sun last week, but it appears that another alluring smartphone will soon emerge from South Korea — this time as the Optimus Note from LG — which presents itself in the wild and with a leaked press shot. It’s said to feature a 1.2GHz dual-core Tegra 2, along with a 4-inch WVGA NOVA display and Gingerbread. We can also expect a 5 megapixel primary shooter with an LED flash on the rear, a front-facing VGA cam up front, 8GB of internal storage and WiFi Direct capability. The device itself is 12.3mm thick, which accommodates a four-row sliding QWERTY keyboard. While this version seems destined for LG’s home territory, we can’t help but wonder if we’ll see similar specs in the Optimus Slider that’s bound Sprint. Also, since the phone has yet to become official, perhaps a last minute name change is in order? As you ponder this final point, hop the break and take a squint at Mr. Blurrycam’s finest.

Velocity Micro Cruz T410 Gingerbread tablet will run you a penny under $300

Looks like the T408 has company. Velocity Micro today announced the Cruz T410, the bigger brother to the recently unveiled eight-inch T408. The 10-inch tablet rocks similar specs as its smaller sibling, including a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, Android 2.3, a front-facing camera, WiFi, and pre-loaded Amazon content. The budget Android tablet will be available this month, running $299.99 — $60 more than the T408, but still fairly affordable in the tablet world. Press release is after the break.

HP TouchPad gets multitouch drivers for Android courtesy of Team-Touchdroid

TouchPad mania has been in full effect since the slate went on blue-light special a few weeks ago. Yet, with the future of webOS in flux, crowds have clamored to get Google’s green bots on the woebegone tablet. Last week, Team-Touchdroid gave the TouchPad a slice of Gingerbread, and now it’s delivered full 10-point multitouch as well. Of course, the video below only shows it doing the trick on a testing app, but it’s a good start. Shouldn’t be long now before you TouchPad owners can get touchy-feely with any Android app your hearts desire.

Maylong M-260 tablet gets torn asunder by FCC, budget internals exposed

Well, well, well, what have we here? Looks like a successor to Maylong’s M-250 budget Android tablet, just made it through the FCC. We can’t tell much from the filing, outside of the fact that the M-260 packs WiFi, a microSD slot, and what appears to be a front facing camera and a resistive touchscreen (judging from the included stylus). Screenshots from the user’s manual also show what seems to be a lightly tweaked version of Gingerbread, instead of the 2.2 beating inside its predecessor. When and where it will land or how much it’ll cost is anyone’s guess, but we’re leaning towards cheap. Check out the gallery below to get a peek at its insides.

Samsung Stratosphere aims to be Verizon’s first QWERTY-packing LTE device

Verizon’s LTE network may be praiseworthy for its blazing-fast mobile broadband and high-end devices, but there’s one area of the carrier’s 4G lineup that’s always needed improvement: variety. From renders revealed by PocketNow, it’s apparent that one of the next-gen handsets slated for release soon (perhaps even this week) is the QWERTY-laden Samsung Stratosphere, also known as the SCH-I405. If true, this would be the very first LTE device that comes with a hardware keyboard, finally giving us a new option aside from the 4.3-inch slates that have dominated Big Red’s offerings for so long. It’s rumored to have an “awesome” screen (Super AMOLED Plus?), Android 2.3.4 preinstalled, 2GB internal storage and 5MP rear / 1.3 front cams; not much of a spec sheet to go off of, of course, but at least we know it’s unique. With several other LTE handsets taking the stage between now and the holidays, there’s no reason to make them all look the same… right?
