The company, which released a new version of the Endomondo iOS app on Wednesday with flatter graphics in keeping with […]

Google makes its Quickoffice app free for both Android and iOS users

Google makes its Quickoffice app free for both Android and iOS users

Less than two weeks after Apple decided to make iWork free for new iOS devices, Google went and did us one better: it’s offering its Quickoffice suite for free, to both Android and iOS users. If you recall, the apps have actually already been free to Google Apps subscribers, specifically, but now the offer applies to anyone, regardless of when they activated their device or what OS version they’re using. As an added incentive, if you sign in to your Google Account from the Quickoffice app by September 26, 2013, you get 10 gigs of extra storage space for two years. And that’s all there is to it. Hit up the source link for more details, if you need them, or else find the app on Google Play or the App Store.

Google Wallet finally makes its iOS debut, sans NFC

Google Wallet finally makes its iOS debut, sans NFC

Hey iPhone users, Google Wallet is here! The payments app has finally arrived for iOS devices, bringing with it transfers to friends, loyalty card tracking and nearby offers. Tap-to-pay is notably absent, as iOS devices don’t support NFC, but much of the other Wallet functionality does appear to have made its way to the App Store. As for security, you can keep things locked up using a PIN, and if you lose your phone or tablet, the app can be disabled remotely via Google’s site. Google Wallet for iOS, version 2.0.10206, is available today for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 6.0 or better.

DNP Dispatch mail app gets overhauled for iOS 7, brings

Now that you’ve given your iPhone a breath of fresh air with iOS 7, why not try something besides the old standby email apps? Along with a new interface, the recently overhauled Dispatch now includes background mail-fetching, alias support and even a multi-field search function. Four other features are explained in a post on the developer’s blog, and with version 1.2, Dispatch is approaching the point where you could think about ditching your old mail app. The two-man dev team promises more updates are in the works, but can’t commit to when we’ll see them, of course.

Tumblr adds push notifications to Android app, iOS version to follow suit

DNP Tumblr update

A barrage of apps might’ve just gotten an iOS 7 refresh, but there’s one for Android that’s left its iOS counterpart in the dust: Tumblr. The microblogging site’s Android app now boasts push notifications, adding blog follow and comment pings to the mishmash of Facebook and Twitter replies you get. Of course, if you like suspense and would rather see interactions when you’re on the Yahoo-owned site, you can alway turn notifications off via Settings. Despite this notable feature, the new version’s changelog is quite short — the only other item is the activity screen redesign that you can see in the image above. Have fun lording these changes over your iOS-using friends while you can, though — Tumblr says an update for iPhones and iPads is “coming very soon.”
