Apple, who recently settled their ongoing dispute with Motorola and Google amicably, has no intent on following that up. Previous reports that suggested the Cupertino firm and Samsung would play … Continue reading
A couple of weeks ago, the rumors suggested that Apple’s deal to acquire Beats could be finalized this week, but given that it’s already Friday and we still haven’t heard anything yet, it looks like there could be yet another delay. According to the folks at Billboard, they have heard several reasons as to why the deal has yet to be officially announced.
For starters, it seems that the deal is one of Apple’s biggest deals to date, and is also Tim Cook’s first major acquisition, making things a bit more complicated than it should be. Secondly, the rumors of the deal were leaked too early. When the rumors were first reported, it was suggested that the deal was close to being finalized. Apparently that is far from the truth as Apple was still in the middle of negotiations.
There was also the video featuring Dr. Dre and actor Tyrese Gibson that seemingly confirmed the deal, a move that Apple was not too pleased about, especially given how tight-lipped Apple is known to be. It also seems that Apple is still trying to figure out where Beats’ founders, Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre will fit into the company. We had previously heard that Apple could be interested in leveraging their industry connections to help make the company more culturally relevant.
Last but not least, with the purchase of Beats, it comes with Beats Music as well, and that Apple is trying to put a number of the worth of Beats Music. Given that the service is relatively new and does not have that big a user base, perhaps it might not be worth much to Apple, although the service is also backed up by major record labels, like the Warner Music Group who might beg to differ.
It seems that all of these “issues” are the reason why Apple has yet to finalize the deal. So when will the deal happen then? Well that’s pretty much anyone’s guess, but hopefully we will have more details to share come next week.
Apple’s Acquisition Of Beats Delayed Again [Rumor]

So far what we’ve seen about the iPhone 6 is mostly its outershell. Those leaks were spotted in leaked photos that are supposedly based on leaked schematics, and have also been used by case manufacturers to test their cases on, so there’s no telling how true or accurate those leaked photos are.
However today we got a new leak, this time a component of the iPhone 6 that comes in the form of the LCD backlight. The photos were posted on the folks at French website, Nowhereelse.fr and based on what we can see in the photos, it appears that it does share some similar traits to the iPhone 5s’ LCD backlight, namely in the design and the connection.
Although we should note that the connecter for the iPhone 6 has been moved slightly towards the left ,and the connecting pins also appears to be different, but we’re not sure if there is any significance to this. The image we can see above is also allegedly that of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, although there’s no way of telling just from the photo alone, although it does look bigger.
In any case do take it with a grain of salt for now, but this is one of the first few inner components of the iPhone 6 that we’ve come across so far, so hopefully additional photos will surface that can further help us determine some of the specs of the upcoming handset.

The thing about upgrading storage on your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air is that it can get pretty expensive, making you question whether or not you even needed that upgrade in the first place. Well if you do need additional storage but you’re unwilling to pay Apple that much money just to get additional space, you might be interested to learn that Transcend has recently introduced a new JetDrive Lite expansion card that has been designed for the MacBook Air and Pro in mind.
One of the perks of the JetDrive Lite is that it is a low-profile design, which means that unlike inserting memory cards into the MacBook’s SD card slot, it will not stick out, so you don’t have to worry about it getting knocked loose or damaged when you bring your laptop around with you.
According to Transcend, “When inserted into the card slot of a compatible MacBook Pro with Retina display or MacBook Air, the low-profile JetDrive Lite will not stick out like an SD card and can be left in place for on-the-go storage.”
It is also priced somewhat decently at $49 for the 64GB version and $99 for the 128GB version, although we should note that some models won’t be able to use the 128GB card. For example the 13-inch MacBook Air and the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro can use either the 64GB or 128GB models, while the 13-inch MacBook Pro will only be limited to the 64GB option.
The JetDrive Lites have a max sequential read speed of 95 MB/s, while the max write speed is at 60 MB/s, which we reckon should be sufficient for day to day use. Transcend’s JetDrive Lite expansion card is currently available for purchase, so if you’d like to learn more, it up their website for the details.

Apple Patents Mechanical Shutters That Could Ruggedize Speakers And Mics On Future iPhones
Posted in: Today's ChiliApple has applied for a patent (via AppleInsider) that would introduce mechanical shutters to mobile devices that would slide shut when they detect a potential fall or impact, protecting sensitive weak points like speakers and microphones. These areas are currently kept safe using wire mesh and extremely small openings, but a shutter system would make it possible to build devices with bigger… Read More
