The Associated Press is reporting that Apple will switch on its new iBeacons service— which will provide location-aware services to your phone—across its 254 US stores today.
Every year, World AIDS Day is observed on December 1st, where it is meant to help draw additional awareness among the general public concerning the seemingly never ending battle against the twin terrors of HIV and AIDS. Apple has nodded towards World AIDS Day by changing the color of their Apple Store logos to red, while some of the Apple Stores also took the extra step of using existing display tables to show off Product (RED) versions of various Apple devices. Not only that, should you take the step of picking up a Product (RED) Apple device, Apple will ensure that a portion of the proceeds would be donated to the Global Fund in the ongoing battle against AIDS on the continent of Africa.
Apple has a storied history when it comes to raising the level of awareness in the fight against AIDS, as well as making donations to the course. In fact, Apple has been hawking Product (RED) items for a fair number of years already, and if we were to turn back the clock this year, Apple design chief Sir Jony Ive did take part in a notable charity auction for Product (RED) that raised several million dollars at the end of the day.

Last month, I invited Apple employees to send me funny stories, and they did not disappoint. (The invitation still stands, so please drop me a line!) Here are three of my favorites so far.
For quite some time now Apple has allowed customers to shop through their iOS devices using the official Apple Store app. However, the company had never released a native app for the iPad, today it finally did. The official Apple Store app for iPad has finally been released, it is live now and available for download. Through the app, customers can browse items in the online store and directly shop through their Apple branded tablets.
The app is well designed and optimized for the tablet’s considerably large screen real estate. Users can take advantages of several gestures to navigate around the app, such as pinch to zoom and swipe. Product categories are displayed in a menu up top which disappears as the user starts to browse products. Swiping down from the top brings the menu back. Users can search for specific products, add them to the cart and checkout. After payment, they can choose if they want the product shipped to their address or if they’d rather head over to a local Apple retail store and pick it up themselves. Through the app, users will also be able to make Genius Bar appointments as well as locate nearest Apple Stores to attend workshops or events. Apple Store app for iPad is available as a free download from the App Store.

It goes without saying that when it comes to viewing real estate, bigger tends to be a whole lot better for most of us. After all, that could be the very reason as to why phablets have started to be a whole lot more trendy than ever before, and this market segment is not showing any signs of slowing down along the way. Having said that, the Apple iPad has always sported a far larger display than the regular iPhones and iPod touch over the years, so it is nice to hear that at long last, the Apple Store app for iPad has appeared on iTunes (where the link is located at the end of this story).
This particular app was specially designed in order to make sure that every single pixel on your iPad’s display is taken advantage of. No longer do you need to make do with an iPhone equivalent, as you should, theoretically speaking, be able to enjoy a range of high resolution images complete with full pinch-to-zoom support. Apart from that, expect to be able to experience intuitive category links in addition to detailed product information as and where necessary. Have you ever wondered what took Apple so long? Apple Store Goes Down Worldwide, iPad Mini With Retina Display Coming Soon?
Posted in: Today's ChiliYou know that the inevitable was going to happen when Apple introduced the iPad Air as well as the iPad mini with Retina display not too long ago, and that would be the respective devices appearing on Apple’s online store in due time. Cupertino’s modus operandi works this way – the moment a particular device is about to be introduced and made available online, the whole Apple Store would be rendered inaccessible, and this is exactly what is happening at the moment amidst the iPad mini with Retina display launch rumors.
In fact, it was discovered prior of what could very well be an internal Apple document that more or less showed off a November 12th launch date for the iPad mini with Retina display, and that could very well be true considering how the Apple Store right now has a simple splash page that advises us to be patient in a slew of languages because the site has gone down for maintenance. What do you think it is? A routine maintenance, or a special kind of maintenance where the products database is updated to include a slew of upcoming and new devices? Only time will tell, and this is a good opportunity to exercise the virtue of patience.

It would appear that Apple’s supply of the iPhone 5s has been safely restored to near-normal as the “October” shipping time has been reduced to 2-3 weeks. Now that we’re inside October, it certainly wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense to stick with the October shipping time note, but up on Apple.com you’ll now […]
