Supposing you’re a heavy user of Apple’s personal assistant Siri, you’ll be glad to know that the company has just acquired a company that’ll make her a whole lot better. … Continue reading
It’s all well and good being able to call upon your own pocketable Siri butler, but I don’t remember Bruce Wayne’s buddy Alfred relying on a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection before he could stitch up his crime-fighting boss.
Earlier in the week, we brought you word that Apple intends to raise the prices in its iTunes App Store in select regions so that those will be on par with changes in foreign exchange rates. The five affected regions will include Australia, India, Indonesia, Turkey, and South Africa, while Israel and New Zealand will see select price tiers decreased. That day has arrived, in Australia at least, where apps that used to cost A$0.99 on the Australian iTunes App Store will now be 30% more expensive at A$1.29.

Biometric security appears to be one of the new trends in the mobile industry. Granted it isn’t exactly new per se, but with Apple’s introduction of Touch ID in the iPhone 5s, safe to say that it managed to generate a fair amount of interest from the competition, like Samsung and the Galaxy S5 handset.
During our hands-on review of the Samsung Galaxy S5, we didn’t really get a lot of time to test the fingerprint scanner too thoroughly, but the demonstrations were pretty convincing. So the other day when Microsoft announced Office for iPad, it didn’t really come as a surprise to learn that the apps had shot to the top of the iTunes App Store charts. Perhaps there is genuine demand for the app, or perhaps people are just curious as to how Office for iPad would work on a tablet running on iOS.
Well according to a recent tweet by the Microsoft Office Twitter account, it seems that there have been more than 12 million downloads of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for the iPad from the iTunes App Store since its launch and given that it was about a week ago, we have to say that is pretty impressive. Apple’s new crop of iOS devices is expected to be unveiled in the second half of 2014. This Summer, at WWDC 2014, its likely that Apple will only make software related announcements. As far as next generation iOS devices are concerned, they may be powered by Apple’s A8 processor. Micron’s LPDDR4 DRAM may be coupled with that chip, and the manufacturer claims its more fast and power efficient than rivals.
