iPhone 5s Retains Consumer Interest As iPhone 5c Struggles

Consumer interest and subsequent demand for a product can be quite fluid. The market can be swayed by new competitors offering more bang for the buck as opposed to their rivals, whereas for some its a matter of brand loyalty while some just want to stick with the product that has always worked for them. As the crop of new Android flagships gets ready to hit the market, its worthwhile to judge what the existing iPhones’ perception is in front of consumers. It appears that many prospective smartphone buyers still prefer the iPhone 5s as opposed to its unapologetically plastic sibling, the iPhone 5c.

    Apple Reportedly Pressuring Music Labels For Exclusive ReleasesBeyonce is an artist that holds some serious star power. Back in 2013, the singer decided to test the limits of her popularity when she released her new album without any fanfare or announcements. Safe to say at that time, that was pretty much all anyone could talk about on social media.

    This kind of breaks tradition where artists usually drops hints, or keeps reminding their fans that their album is about to be released. Turns out Beyonce did not have anything to worry about as the album broke the iTunes record where it was released as an exclusive, and now Apple wants to recreate that effect with other artists as well.

    According to a report from Billboard, Apple’s VP of the iTunes Store, Robert Kondrk, had been pressuring label executives every since January to follow in the steps of Beyonce and release more albums that would exclusive to iTunes. (more…)

    Tim Cook Says Hard To Call Apple TV A Hobby These Days

    Even though there have been countless rumors that Apple is working on a full fledged TV set, its only TV related offering is the set-top box, Apple TV. This has been around for quite a while and initially the company itself, back then lead by Steve Jobs, dubbed it as a “hobby.” Since then the perception has always been that Apple has sort of always kept this product going just because its a hobby, but that doesn’t mean its not a popular product. In fact, Apple CEO Tim Cook remarked at the company’s shareholders meeting recently that ”It’s a little more difficult to call it a hobby these days.”
