Everything Right and Wrong With Apps in One Bizarre Haagen-Dazs Concerto

Everything Right and Wrong With Apps in One Bizarre Haagen-Dazs ConcertoHaagan-Dazs should make its own app, you can just picture a coked-up branding executive typing into a sweat-soaked BlackBerry after wrestling a horse to the ground with his bare hands. And so they did, they built a Haagen-Dazs app that’s really a 3D augmented reality violin concerto. It’s wonderful and horrible, and it’s everything.

Temple Run 2 Adds Usain Bolt Character To The Game With His Own Special Ability

Temple Run 2 Adds Usain Bolt Character To The Game With His Own Special AbilityThe first Temple Run game got pretty famous on its own, which later saw the game utilized by movie studios to help promote their movies. The game itself then got a sequel with updated graphics and new ruins to navigate, and if you love playing the game as much as I do, you might be pretty pleased to learn that the game has recently received an update where it will introduce to gamers a brand new character that they pay to purchase. For a limited time and if you’re willing to drop $0.99, you will be able to purchase the Usain Bolt character!

Yes it is the same Usain Bolt athlete who broke records in sporting events, and now he is a playable character in Temple Run 2. It is unknown how long this “limited time” offer is, but if you’re the sort that likes unlocking as many characters as you can, you might want to move fast. Usain Bolt’s character will also be getting his own unique ability called (unsurprisingly) the “Bolt”, and it basically combines the Boost ability and the Magnet ability together, which we have to admit is pretty darn cool. In any case for those who have yet to download the game, you can hit up the iTunes App Store for the free download, but just to reiterate, the Usain Bolt character will cost $0.99 to unlock.

Samsung Releases Exclusive Apps For Its Windows Phone Devices

Samsung Releases Exclusive Apps For Its Windows Phone DevicesOne of the ways Windows Phone manufacturers separate themselves from the rest of the herd is by offering up exclusive apps which are only available for a particular manufacturer’s device. Given that Windows Phone hardware is pretty much the same across the board, with some minor differences and features, like Nokia focusing on camera specs, or a different design, it can be hard to choose a brand to go with. Well the good news for Samsung fans is that if you were looking for a reason to get a Samsung Windows Phone handset, like the ATIV S or the ATIV S Neo, Samsung has released two exclusive apps: MangaCamera and Paper Artist.

Granted these aren’t exactly deal-breakers or deal-makers, they might be appreciated by Samsung users who might otherwise feel that the South Korean company might be focusing on its Android efforts and neglecting its Windows Phone division. The apps are photo-related and with MangaCamera, it basically gives your photos a cartoon-like effect (pictured above to the left), while Paper Artist will allow effects to be added to photos, like a watercolor-type effect as pictured above to the right. Hopefully there will be more to follow in the future, but for now Samsung owners should be pretty pleased with this.

Instagram No Longer Deleting Posts By Third-Party Apps

Instagram No Longer Deleting Posts By Third Party AppsWhile Windows Phone is a pretty smooth operating system, what it lacks is a bunch of official apps that iOS and Android users are enjoying, and one of the big ones is none other than Instagram. This has resulted in developers creating third-party alternatives that would provide Windows Phone users with the Instagram experience, albeit not from the official app, but recently this has resulted in Instagram deleting posts made by third-party apps. Well the good news is that if you thought this would be the end of your Instagram posting via apps such as Instance, you can rest easy because it seems that Instagram has recently made some changes that will now allow third-party apps to continue uploading photos to its website.

It is not clear if Instagram has reversed their decision out of good will or if it was a mistake that wasn’t intended in the first place, and now they are fixing it. Instagram had previously stated that they are not seeking to block third-party apps, which we guess would be pretty mean-spirited of them considering that there are no plans for an official Instagram app for Windows Phone at the moment, although last we heard Nokia was hard at work at bringing Instagram to Windows Phone.

Breaking Up is Hard to Do… So Let This App Do It for You

Want to take a virtual field trip? Or find a pizza place nearby? Or break up with someone? Well, there’s an app for that. And I mean, all of that.

The apps for the first two functions have been around for a while now. As for the third function – well, let’s just say the app for that went viral recently.

Breakup App1

It’s called the BreakUp Text app and it will apparently break up with your not-so-significant-anymore other for you. Via text. Because yeah, some people actually do that and if you don’t have the guts to do it yourself, then you might find some use for this.

Breakup App

You can choose from serious and casual reasons for the break-up. Aside from that, you can also use the app to pen longer, supposedly heartfelt messages about why you want to end the relationship. Some people might take this as a joke, but don’t be surprised when others take this seriously as well.

One of the app’s creators, Jake Levine, explained: “As much as we did it as a joke, it has sort of captured a moment in time when tech is becoming more pervasive in our lives and relationships.”

Curious? The app can be downloaded from the iTunes app store for $0.99.
