Apple Launches Sharing Selfies Section On iTunes App StoreBefore the term “selfies” was coined, people were already doing it, although we guess now that the action comes with a name, we’re starting to see more of it these days. In fact the most popular selfie was courtesy of Ellen Degeneres who managed to take one during the Oscar’s show, where her post on Twitter soon became viral and beat out Obama’s “Four more years” tweet.

That being said, there are plenty of apps available that can help you take a selfie. In fact pretty much all smartphones these days come with a front-facing camera and the default app can help you take a selfie of yourself in a couple of seconds, but what if you wanted to share it? Which platforms might be best suited for a selfie? (more…)

Microsoft Was Interested In WhatsApp Too, According To Bill Gates

Microsoft Was Interested In WhatsApp Too, According To Bill GatesBack in February, Facebook announced that they would be acquiring WhatsApp, an instant messaging app for mobile devices. The deal was valued at $19 billion and safe to say that many were shocked by this news, along with how much Facebook was willing to pay for it.

So far we have only heard that Facebook is the only company that might have made a bid for the company, but apparently it seems that Microsoft was close to making a deal themselves as well, thanks to a recent interview that Bill Gates did with the Rolling Stone magazine. (more…)

Clones And Free To Play Titles Have Soured iTunes App Store Experience, According To ReportApple’s iOS platform is one that many developers opt to develop for first. Perhaps it’s more lucrative, perhaps the developers are iOS fans themselves, we’re not sure, but according to a recent report in the Edge, it has been suggested that due to clone games and free-to-play titles, the app store experience has been “soured”.

As gamers are probably well-aware of, there are plenty of cloned games in the App Store. In fact this was highlighted rather prominently after Flappy Bird had been removed, which then saw an influx of Flappy Bird-like clones hitting the App Store in a bid to capitalize on the craze of the game. Musician Skrillex Unveils New Album Via Video Game For Mobile Phones

Musician Skrillex Unveils New Album Via Video Game For Mobile PhonesIn the past, musicians would release albums by announcing it to the press, hold an event at a record store, go on radio, appear on MTV, or something along those lines. However those are the older methods of announcing an album and while they are still perfectly legitimate, we guess artists will have to be more creative if they are hoping for listeners to purchase their music.

This is exactly what musician Skrillex has done with his latest album. For those unfamiliar, Skrillex is a musician who specializes in the dubstep genre and his music has appeared in video games in the past, such as in Far Cry 3. (more…)

Microsoft Noting App Submissions With Windows Phone 8.1 Compatibility

Microsoft Noting App Submissions With Windows Phone 8.1 CompatibilityWindows Phone 8.1 is an update that many Windows Phone 8 users are probably waiting for. After all the update is expected to introduce a host of changes and improvements to the operating system, as well as bring about new features, one of them supposedly being Cortana, the voice assistant feature for Windows Phone.

However the question about app compatibility remains and we have to wonder if Windows Phone 8.1 will be that drastic that it might “break” apps, or have apps run into compatibility or optimization issues. We’re assuming for the most part that it should be fine, but Microsoft is not taking any chances and has recently started noting Windows Phone app submissions as to whether the app is Windows Phone 8.1 compatible or not. Instagram Photographer Made $15,000 In A Day Selling His PrintsWhen it comes to Instagram, the app and social network is typically known for its users posting selfies and food photos followed by lots and lots and lots of (unnecessary) hashtags. VLC For Windows 8 Now Available In The Windows Store

VLC For Windows 8 Now Available In The Windows Store

Just yesterday we reported that the VLC team had announced that the app for Windows 8 was still in the process of being certified. Well the good news is that if you’re a Windows 8 user looking for an optimized version of VLC for your computer, you might be pleased to learn that the app has since been certified and is now available for download via the Windows Store.

Naturally the app itself is a free download just like other versions of VLC in the past, with the main difference is that it will be optimized for the Windows 8 platform. However the team at VLC are calling it a beta and have reminded users as such, so don’t be surprised if you encounter any bugs or whatnot during your use of the device.

The app will support the same codecs as VLC for the desktop, so rest assured that most, if not all your media should be playable. This includes audio files such as MKV, Ogg, Move, FLAC, and MPC. There is also support for embedded subtitles, background audio playback, and more. (more…)
