Consumer Groups Wants FTC To Investigate Facebook/WhatsApp DealA couple of weeks ago, Facebook had the industry in a frenzy when they announced that they would be acquiring instant messenger app, WhatsApp, for a whopping $19 billion, making it several more times more expensive than what they paid for Instagram which was $1 billion.

In a way this is a good move for Facebook as they would acquire one of the world’s most popular and most used instant messaging services, but it seems that not everyone is too pleased about the deal as two consumer groups have recently filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, asking them to investigate the pending acquisition.     Vine Updates TOS, Pornographic Material Will No Longer Be AllowedThere are plenty of pornographic websites out there, and a quick search on Google will yield pages upon pages of results. However it seems that there are some folks at out there who prefers getting their sexually explicit material from not-so conventional sources, such as Vine.

    We guess this is not surprising given that other social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have been found to play host to such material as well. However it looks like Vine has had enough and have announced an update to their Rules and Terms of Service with regards to sexually explicit material. (more…)

    comiXology Experiences Security Breach, Password Reset RequiredIf you’re an avid comic book reader, chances are you might have downloaded the comiXology app for your smartphones or tablets. For those unfamiliar with the app, basically it gives users access to hundreds, if not thousands of comics published by a variety of publishers, including Marvel and DC.

    Unfortunately it seems that comiXology had a recent security scare and has since sent out emails to comiXology users asking them to reset their passwords. Now thankfully it seems that payment details were not breached as apparently payment account information was not stored on their servers. (more…)

    BBM PINs Could Be Customizable In The Future

    BBM PINs Could Be Customizable In The FutureUnless you’re constantly giving out your BBM PIN to people you meet, chances are you will have to go through the BBM menu to find the PIN (or the QR code) to give it to someone who is trying to add you. It also doesn’t help that the BBM PINs are a string of letters and numbers, making it a pretty tricky thing to try and remember.

    That being said, wouldn’t it be nice if we could customize our BBM PINs? Perhaps make them a little more identifiable? At the moment that is not a feature that BlackBerry is planning on introducing, but thanks to a recent screenshot of a survey sent in to the folks at BlackBerryOS, it seems that it is a feature BlackBerry could be considering.
