Nokia Pro Camera App Gets Ported Onto The HTC 8X

Most Windows Phone devices on the surface appear to be pretty similar in terms of their software, but what sets manufacturers apart software-wise is how they have exclusive apps that are only available for a particular manufacturer’s range of devices. Well if you’re a HTC 8X user and you would love to get your hands on the Nokia Pro Camera app, which appears to be a Nokia-exclusive for now, you can if you don’t mind fiddling around with your phone for a bit. A recent video by the folks at WindowsBlogItalia has been uploaded and basically shows off the Nokia Pro Camera app running on the HTC 8X handset.

They were even nice enough to post a tutorial if you wish to attempt something similar with your HTC 8X device. Unfortunately the instructions are posted in Italian which means that after the page has been translated, there might be something lost in translation which might be a bit risky if you’re not the type of person who fiddles around under the hood that often. In any case it’s up to you to decide if the app is worth the effort, but in the meantime you can check out the demo in the video above to get an idea of what you might be able to expect.

    Instagram’s Photo Straightening Feature Explained

    Instagrams Photo Straightening Feature Explained

While taking photos at weird and “artsy” angles might be relatively easy, taking photos that perfectly straight on the other hand is a more tricky affair. This might explain why some professional photographers carry accessories that help them determine if their cameras are perfectly aligned. Well the good news is that thanks to technology, we don’t have to worry about that, and Instagram is bringing that convenience to the app in an update that will automatically straighten up your images. Angry Birds Go Is Rovio’s Upcoming Kart Racing Game

Back in June this year, Rovio teased a new Angry Birds game called Angry Birds Go. At that time it wasn’t clear as to what this title entailed, but according to Rovio at that time, it was an Angry Birds title but not as we know it. Well it turns out that Rovio’s statement was spot on as it has been revealed that Angry Birds Go is actually a racing game! Given that Angry Birds Go was created in partnership with Redbull who has other racing games in the App Store, we guess we can’t say we are too surprised.

This will no doubt be a huge departure from other Angry Birds titles which features players to strategically slingshot birds into structures to get as many points as possible. While the mechanics of Angry Birds Go have yet to be fully revealed, if the game is anything like Rovio’s earlier efforts, we expect it should be pretty fun. No word on when Angry Birds Go will be released, but the video above does say, “All will be revealed soon!” so we guess we will just have to play the waiting game for now. So, who else is looking forward to this racing game from Rovio?

    What’s Your Favorite Weather App?

    What's Your Favorite Weather App?

I live in a city where most people consider the weather to be perfect but I actually think that the weather doesn’t truly exist here. Whatever, it’s nice. But even in the most loveliest, mildest place, the dog days of summer can get pretty unbearable. That’s probably the only time I ever look at the weather app on my phone. And that’s probably the only time I realize how crappy my choice of weather app is.

Repix brings its photo editing prowess to Android, supports Samsung’s S Pen and Air View (video)

DNP Repix brings its photo editing prowess to the Android contingent

After gaining considerable success on the iOS side of the smartphone divide, Repix has finally launched its creative photo editor over on the land of the little green droid. Like the iOS original, the Android version lets you liven up your humdrum camera phone images with a variety of effects that range from filters and frames to a set of thirty brushes that let you augment specific areas of the photo instead of the whole thing. For those with a Galaxy Note device (be it the original Note, the Note II, the Note 8.0 or the Note 10.1), you’ll be glad to know Repix works well with the S Pen’s pressure sensitivity. If you have a GS4, the app has built-in support for the handset’s Air View technology, so you can discern the size of the brush just by hovering your finger above the display. But regardless of which Android phone you have, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store starting today to begin putting those Instagram filters to shame.

Samsung Ghana Begins Advertising BBM For Android

If you’re an iOS or Android user and you are looking to communicate with friends on BlackBerry devices who refuse to get alternative means of messaging, chances are you can’t wait to get your hands on the BBM app which is scheduled to arrive on the iOS and Android platforms in the near future. So far the user guides have been leaked suggesting that the release could be close at hand, and it looks like over in certain regions, Samsung has begun advertising the app as well. It seems that Samsung and BlackBerry might have inked some sort of deal in which BBM will come preloaded on their Galaxy devices, which might explain why Samsung is spending their resources in advertising the app.

The video above is one of the advertisements that Samsung has begun putting out, although it seems to have originated from Samsung Ghana who have not only uploaded a video, but a photo on their Facebook page as well. Unfortunately there is no word on when exactly the app is due to be released, but last we heard a September release was in the cards. In any case check back with us during September for more updates. In the meantime who else is excited for BBM arriving on iOS and Android?

With most of the documents released by the NSA being an exercise in fitting as few letters as possible between strings of black bars, it’s no wonder that a whole slew of [Redacted]-oriented games have been cropping up. The newest comes in the form of a surprisingly engrossing, interactive app composed entirely of text.
