Archos 50c Oxygen & 64 Xenon Smartphones Announced

Archos 50c Oxygen & 64 Xenon Smartphones AnnouncedWith MWC 2014 taking place next week, we guess Archos did a smart thing by announcing several of their products ahead of the event, thus ensuring that it will be getting a fair amount of attention, versus launching it at the event itself where it might be overshadowed by other product announcements. Archos 40b Titanium Is Aimed At The Music Lover

Archos 40b Titanium Is Aimed At The Music LoverWe’re sure many of us use our phones to play music, and for the most part it sounds alright. Of course it matters what kind of earphones and headphones you use, along with the type of file (whether it’s just MP3 or a lossless format like FLAC), and yes sometimes it does matter what device you are using to play it. Audiophiles can get picky when it comes to choosing a media player as the sound processing engine does play a part in replicating good sound quality as well, and while we can’t speak for Archos’ 40b Titanium yet, this is a device that the company has announced that will be aimed at the music lover in mind.

According to Archos, the 40b Titanium will feature an “enhanced audio system” and will also pack dual-front facing speakers to deliver “crystal clear and pure stereo sound”, which in a way reminds us of the HTC One and its front-facing stereo speakers. Apart from those features meant to appeal to music enthusiasts, the 40b Titanium isn’t much when it comes to hardware. It will pack a dual-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of onboard storage. It will also come with a 5MP camera, a VGA front camera, a 1,400mAh battery with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Then again with its price tag of just £100, it doesn’t seem too bad, does it?

    Archos Windows Phone Plans Confirmed

Ever since Microsoft agreed to acquire Nokia’s hardware and services division, which happens to be the largest OEM of its mobile platform, there was speculation that other OEMs might not be too happy. Nokia led the Windows Phone charge singlehandedly last year, clocking out with over 92 percent of the entire market share. Not a lot of OEMs made WP devices in 2013 but in recent months it has been reported that new manufacturers are keen on jump on this bandwagon. Archos’ Smartwatch To Be Sold For $50

Archos Smartwatch To Be Sold For $50Smartwatches are definitely the gadget to keep an eye on for 2014. We have heard the rumors that many companies, such as Apple, could debut smartwatches later on in the year, and during CES 2014, companies such as Archos have unveiled their own offering in the form of a smartwatch that is expected to give devices like the Pebble smartwatch a run for its money. Now if there was any drawback to smartwatches is that for the most part, they tended to be rather pricey and did not come across as value for money. Considering that this is still the teething process of the wearable tech industry, naturally a lot of initial offerings aren’t exactly appealing, although they might be interesting.

The good news is that if you wanted to hop aboard the smartwatch bandwagon but did not want to pay an arm and a leg to own one, Archos’ offering could just be what you were after as the company has announced that they will be selling their smartwatch for a mere $50. Yup you read that right, for the price of a very nice meal, you will be able to own a smartwatch. Of course Archos’ offering seems more like the Pebble in terms of functionality, as opposed to the Samsung Galaxy Gear which did seem a little over the top. If simple was what you were after, then perhaps this should do the trick.

Archos expects their offering to arrive sometime in the summer and also expects that they will be introducing more models from now until then with more color options, as well as one with an aluminum casing.
